I think the most important thing when it comes to constipation is hydration. I was feeling constipated for a long time. I started recording my water intake to make SURE I had at least 8x8oz glasses of plain water a day, and about a week later, was back to a healthy restroom usage!

Also, be careful of laxatives. Even more natural ones like senna, you need to make sure you don't use them too often or too long, or you could become dependant on them. Just don't overdo them. Smile

I have severe GI issues, ones that have required surgery, so I NEED constant assistance with going. Nothing is normal. I have IBS-A, ULCERS etc. I am prescribed Linzess 290mcg that I take with breakfast in the morning. I hate to say it, but my body is already dependent.

Please don't misunderstand me... I know some people do need laxatives all the time, and usually at no fault of their own. I just wanted to point out the need for discression so that those who don't continually require laxatives can avoid causing serious problems for themselves. I'm very grateful that Jesus has given me a body that can handle these things on its own (at least so far), and the knowledge to understand what is safe.

Fiber is very helpful as well. For most people, at least 25 grams a day is recommended.

foods
Hi there! To add a new food to the database, I start by going into my food journal and clicking "Add Item" in one of my meals. Then I type in the food I want in the search bar and hit the search button (or press enter on my keyboard). If I don't find the food I need, I click the "+ Add new food" link that appears below the lower left corner of the results box. From there I just fill in the information, add the item to my journal and I'm done! Hope this helps! Smile
