I just entered the preretirement age, a beautiful time. I need to regain strength and endurance so I can be fit and healthy when my husband retires in 20 years. He wants to share walks on the rocky Alaska beach outside our home.

I ascribe to the hormonal theory of obesity, which I learned about on this site a few years ago. I am happy to be back and plan to use the phone app for logging meals and tracking my progress.

Staying hydrated on the road
It's not really about the plastic. It's about soft drink companies stealing public water and selling it for profit. I agree that all the plastic is bad and at least when you drink water, you are not poisoning yourself with soda. I think the idea is to shame you into packing water from home in reusable bottles. Nevermind that your tap water probably tastes like chlorine, most likely contains fluoride, and may well be contaminated with lead or other heavy metals.

Thinking about trying the fasting diet, any thoughts about it?
Check out my weight history for the past ten days. I fasted for 2 1/2 days and lost 7 lb. Then, I feasted for 4 1/2 days and gained 9.2 lb. There can be wild fluctuations with fasting, but overall, I think it is very effective. If you look at my weight history for July of this year, you will see very good weight loss. I fasted 14 days in July. I will be fasting more this week starting tomorrow. I wish you well with fasting. I love it.

Waring Blender Brain!
I've never been able to talk myself out of a binge once my mind goes to that certain place. I do know that when I overeat or eat the "wrong" foods, it's never enough. I've eaten half a jumbo pizza and wanted more. Two sandwiches and a pint of ice cream. Wanted more. It's never enough. Honestly, it's easier for me to not eat at all than to temper my eating when I am in that place. So, how to get out of that place? Journaling here helps tremendously. Keeping an accurate food diary helps tremendously.

I read your bio and am sorry you have to suffer losing a child. Nothing will ever make it better. My sister lost two boys. She lives her life daily focusing on things that make her feel happy. She bought a house on the river, she got rid of all her clutter, she buys artwork, went on a cruise. She has times where the grief bubbles over and she has to cry for a bit.
