Performance: losing 0.8 lb a week

Goal Weight
135.0 lb
Still to go: 2.2 lb
I'm 53, married and the mother of 2 children. My oldest just turned 30 and my youngest died in March of 2005. We have 2 grandchildren and they are the joy of our lives.

After our son died our eating went further out of control and in 2007 we decided we had to do something about our weight. We went to LAWL and we had great success. My husband lost 82 lbs. and I lost 47 lbs. Just as we went into maintenance our center closed. And yes we had prepaid the whole amount. I feel totally cheated as we didn't have the year of guidance and our scales shows it. I've put on 13 lbs. and my hsuband has put on 25 lbs. We are both far from where we started but now where we want to be. I went into maintenance at 137 lbs(w/clothes). and I found it very hard to maintain. I'd like to see my morning birthday suit weight at 140 or below but it seems to run about 145+. I still okay but I remember when the scales sat at 132.

My husband won't let himself stay above 200 lbs. very long and he'll get it back down a few lbs but our weekend eating out throws us both for a loop. It's so hard to go back to the discipline we had during wt. loss with LAWL. I want to find that again.

Using the app on my phone to keep track of what I eat but not getting much motivation going.

Weight Gain with Prescription Meds
No I haven't heard that term. I still do my core exercises, but not as often as I had done in the past. I'd love to do water aerobics but our local YMCA doesn't offer any classes in the evenings...for those people who still have to work! I actually had a PT person tell me about aquacise as she taught it. Too bad I'm not retired yet. I need to work in my core exercises. Thank you for the suggestion.

Weight Gain with Prescription Meds
My back problems are most certainly due to being overweight majority of my life with a few injuries along the way. In 2008 after I lost 47 lbs. on LAWL and met my goal, I tried an eliptical machine...someone gave it to me and I was only on it for 3 mins. That's when it all started. The next day it was unbelievable how my back felt. I had been seeing a chiropractor since I was in my teens and I wasn't afraid to go to one...but he was unable to do anything for me. Pins and needles so bad in my legs as soon as it would hit the only relief I had was when I sat down. After many dr. trips later, MRI's, I have degenerative disc disease, Osteoarthritis and 2 bulging discs. Yep..I actually think that the 47 lbs. I lost kept me held together! No, not really but you would have thought after I lost the extra weight my back would have been good. I learned after PT that I had to exercise routinely and do my stretching exercises or I was done for. So, I still do it all routinely as much as I can. If I overdo then I have a hard time walking the next day.

I was first given Lyrica by my ortho dr. and then my family dr. put me on the Gabapentin since it was cheaper. It worked okay but Lyrica helped more. But I don't think I gained that much with the Gabapentin. Either way I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I can now walk 3 miles on a treadmill at 3.5 mph and today I did 9 miles on my recumbent bike. That about does me in but I survive it. I try but I'm not losing wt.

BUT now it may be my food intake. CARBS...I need to distinguish the good from the bad. I'm pretty sure I like the bad ones better than the good ones.

Short intermission...I need to research the whole carb thing and try and apply it to my day to day life. It's tough. I could use the excuse of meds for a long time but I don't think i'm going to get away with it if I gain 10 more lbs. this year! I'm not going back there.

Have a good evening everyone.

Weight Gain with Prescription Meds
Hello everyone! I haven't been on here for a while and the notifications were going into my spam so I've got some catching up to do. I certainly appreciate everyone's comments on meds and weight gain. It's late in the day for me to read everyone so I'll try to catch up tomorrow. I'm excited I have someone to talk to about this! Thanks everyone!

WOW...I just looked at my carbs for today and wow...if I should only eat between 50 & 100 gr of carbs a day I'm out of the park! This is re-thinking everything I eat now...I know, it's not easy so I guess I need to be more careful and plan this out better.

fatdot...thank you for your comments. Watching carbs huh....I think that is why I liked LAWL I didn't have to count anything, just eat the right portion and however many I was allowed. Any suggestions...i.e. a 30 gr protein breakfast...and what low carbs I can eat? I know..I'm needy. Thanks for your input.
