Changing my bio. On a Whole30 right now to learn how to eat better. Found out that certain foods are the cause of my inflammation issues. I'm switch over to a Paleo diet. I will eat to combat inflammation now.

As a result of this switch, the weight is coming off without effort. I'm not focused on losing weight, I'm focused on eating healthy and to improve my inflammation issues.

Update: 11/20/2020 - I need to gain 10 lbs back.

Serious Question! smile. I'm not on this site to lose weight. Yes, back in april, as a direct result of reading some posts, I cut back dramatically on my carbs (pasta, rice and beans, chicken & broccoli with white rice...) and my tiny gut disappeared after 2 months - but I am on this site and others to correct so much of the false data and info on nutrition - and to a lesser extent weight loss - which again is simple.

Good for you. Be gentle with people, because what may be easy for you, may not be easy for another. Have compassion when you "correct" people. All the best to you.

Help for 60-plus women
You might try doing calisthenics. One of the reasons our metabolism slows down with age is that we lose muscle mass if we don't do anything to maintain or build muscle over the course of our lives. I find that when I add muscle through resistance training or body weight training, my metabolism speeds up and I lose weight! The results take time, but it works and once I put on muscle and keep it on, it's easier to maintain my weight. I'm talking about toning muscles and building strength and balance which is so important as we age.

I started this workout which requires some light hand weights. It's a great start, and the workout is only 20 minutes and you can start off easy and build your intensity and the weights as you get stronger. Great starting point. Walking is also very good for us and if you can walk hills, even better!

I figured that. Many here love to crunch numbers, calculate this and that. But losing weight is simple - as far as math, data, scalewatching, and calculations go - burn more than you consume.

But still, fortunately, more people on the planet are slim rather than fat. Yes, that could be changing as the decades and centuries pass...and one day we might all be obese and diseased. I have always (?) given our species about another 7 to 10 thousands years left before we are extinct.

I have a question, why are you on a site like this if it is all so simple and you have the answer. Serious question.

That's so much going on - just cut back on eating and increase activity. No tracking needed there. ??

For some strange reasons, numbers seem to drive me. That's why I majored in Computer Science. What does not get tracked does not get managed in my life it seems.

And if it was a simple as you stated, most people would be thin and fit, but most are not.

Can we sync Fitbit One and FatSecret?

If you wish to have the calories from FitBit sync with FatSecret, we do have an app up that can accomplish that for you: http://www.fitmess.us Though the functionality offered is currently limited to transferring calories, it fills a need for me as it might for others.

note: I am affiliated with & a developer for fitmess.us

Who do I have to beg or bribe to get this cool site "fitmess" (love the name, thought there was a typo in there) to integrate with Polar Flow ? This is what I want for Christmas !!

I would get my whole Fitmess Fat Secret life together.

Flow tracks Kcals which is an estimate of the number of calories burned based on the day's activities. It tracks many other things but I think that would be the first stat to track.
