the drop size challenge
This challenge is soooo necessary. I have started wearing more dresses and skirts because the last set of larger pants I purchased are now too tight. I refuse to buy any more clothes for the body I do NOT want. I cannot wait to be able to get in all the cute clothes I have abandoned.

Vacation Tips
My ‘diet’ is to eat with a conscious. I am striving to get to your strategy, NCNOLE.

I grew up needing to not be thinner. My parents did not allow trash food in the house, no soda, chips, and cakes and no eating between meals. It still shocks me to see other peoples’ children open the refrigerator without asking permission. Meals were very structured in my house and they included multiple choices from all the food groups. I competed with my skinny sisters to eat the most but I was never able to gain more than two pounds a year. I assumed I had the ‘skinny gene’ from my mother (she takes a medication to increase her appetite). But then I gained forty pounds during my first year of marriage and I was thrilled. I had never had to think about losing weight. As they say, life happened – At the end of a decade my doctor made me realized I was not ever going to worry about being too thin.

I never believed in dieting because I associated it with needing to suppress your appetite. I never got hungry so that was not going to aid me. My stomach was a well-trained bottomless pit. I had no sense of over eating and I never felt bad about what I consumed because I ate mostly healthy food. When the weight got to be too much, I used exercise as my weight loss program. I was pretty brutal at times to my body. As I have gotten older my metabolism just cannot keep up and I have less tolerance for the beat down I used to be willing to let other trainers put me through. I finally decided I needed to be taught how to eat a serving. The effects of my up bring did a number on me. The lack of freedom to eat outside the three meal routine; prohibiting junk food; and totally stretching my stomach lead to not being able to feel when my stomach is full or feeling I have to eat enough now to keep me full until too many hours later; subconsciously wanting to consume more junk food because it may be taken away from me; and thinking it is okay to eat as much as I can because it’s mostly healthy food. When I got divorced and left the corporate world, I just wanted to eat quick food which is always unhealthy if it is not fruit and raw vegetables.

The Fatsecret community has been so refreshing but I enjoyed my vacation away from thinking about calories. As a (freelancing) fitness trainer of a smarter age, exercise is never completely off my mind but I enjoyed not chasing my dream body every day too. These days my focus is on a strong healthy body AND mind.

I will have to get the name of some good vegan spots to try from you. And I agree that not gaining five pounds during the holidays or vacation is a smarter plan then trying to lose it afterwards. I am always in need of drinking more water so I easily retain water weight if I eat salt and I can lose that pretty fast if I get back on my normal schedule. The most important thing is to enjoy your ten days.

Vacation Tips
1) I will enjoy my vacation Very Happy . If I experience weight gain I will live through it and return to my routine and weight loss plan. The weight gain WILL NOT be due to stress over what I ate during vacation Doubt .

2) No one wants to hear about dieting or be reminded that YOU are on one during vacations. I will be positive in all manners. I will not be a source for negative enforcement against eating healthy portions. I will be an advocate for people surrounding me who are not yet willing to accept that they need to change their nutritional intake to change their bodies. This means I WILL NOT say things that support the idea that 'healthy choices mean restrictive eating' or 'portion control means going hungry'. I will do this by staying thoughtful in my statements. No comments like: I shouldn't eat this much or I can't have that. I will show people that although my long term goal is to eat less and loose weight I can enjoy food and not stress about it during vacation.

3) I will stay in my lane, LOLLaughing . I WILL NOT comment on anyone else's choice food choices or the appearance to "let themselves go". I take issue with the health of my body and that is my business; I will let other people handle their's.

4) I will be responsible for my exercise challenges. I WILL NOT count on anyone else to get up or go out with me to exercise. If it does not happen, I WILL NOT get upset Wink .

5) I will enjoy my vacation. I will live to return to my routine. I WILL NOT STRESS!Evil or Very Mad !
