Do you hate vegetables as much as I hate vegetables?
Have you tried Banting? It's low carb, high fat. Fruit and vegs have carbs, so it is restricted on this diet

How accurate is the RDI that Fatsecret gives you?
I think a really good way to know how much cals you need to "stay alive" so to speak is to choose the 'resting and sleeping" on the exercise dairy. The norm is that a woman should not consume less than 1200 cals a day. Keeping that in mind I would say have 500 cals a day less (not going lower than 1200) . I am 5'8 and went down from 145 to 125 in six month doing around 1200/d average per month. Since then I am maintaining at around 1400 cals/d average per month. I prefer to work on average because I think one must be flexable if you want to make the change permanent. Also I don't do a spesific diet or restrictions other than keeping the cals in check.

Banting ice cream
Yes, it is that guy. Banting focus on low carb- as little as possible and high mainly animal fat. The idea is that the process in which the liver breaks down fat helps regulate cholesterol and gives you more energy where as carbs (sugars included) prevent the proper breaking down of fats resulting in fat storage and fluctuating energy levels. To follow the diet properly one should cut out as much as possible sugar (even fruit) and other carbs. Protein should be eaten in moderation, but there is no restrictions on fat other than that you should stop eating when you feel full. Lots of people swear by it and get wonderful results. I can see why it would result in weight loss, but personally I am not convinced that it is good for your body to cut out a food group and I also think that the good thingies one get from fruit is important. At the moment hubby is enjoying the weight loss and I love experimenting with food, so I try to make it fun for him.

Banting ice cream
My hubby started with Tim Noakes's Banting diet and things are going well, but he wanted a dessert. Looking at the "green" thingies in his book that are sweet, I decided to make pumpkin ice cream. Ok, sounds weird, but I am hooked.
I made a custard base with two eggs and a mixture of a cup of cream and a cup of full cream milk, for my American friends, this is probably the same as your half and half ( then again, I don't know if you know about Tim Noakes, but basically it is about low carb and high protein and fat) . Being fancy you can make the custard over hot water stirring until it gets thick, alternately just cook it in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Cook three cups of pumpkin in the microwave, roast it in the oven or cook it in a pot of boiling water until soft. Blitz the custard and pumkin together and cool down in the fridge. Here you can taste and decide how sweet you want it. I added a tablespoon of honey and half a teaspoon of cinnamon, but you can sweeten it with artificial sweetner or more honey. Making the ice cream either in a ice cream maker or freezing it halfway and blitzing it in a blender and freezing until hard. Must confess, the first time we had it at the half frozen stage because we couldn't wait any longer and it was delish! Frozen the next day was equaly good.
