I'm an Australian living in Malaysia with my husband. Our adult kids live in Australia so I guess we're empty-nesters. With advancing age has come more awareness of the reality of poor health- despite being overweight much of my adult life, until recently I really hadn't had to worry about the consequences to my health. So it's time to get back to the healthy weight that I maintained from 2005 to 2010, and taking my husband on an even greater journey (60-70kg).

High carb- Low protein and HUNGRY all the time???
I'm wondering how all these suggestions went for you?

Nobody has mentioned increasing your fat intake. More and more scientists and dieticians are realising that fat is not the enemy that it was once thought to be. With the rash of new research giving clear evidence that diabetes/ sugar-insulin problems/ metabolic syndrome and cholesterol/ lipid problems both improve with very low carb/ high fat diet, I think there will be some major changes in nutritional guidelines in the coming years. I am following the ketogenic diet and when I started on it, I was lethargic and hungry all the time. I have only just realised that I wasn't eating enough fat, and since I decreased my protein intake and increased my fat, I feel so much better! They need to be healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, fat in meats, butter and cream (which you don't eat), avocado, etc. The list you gave is very low in fat, and even most dieters eating a low-fat diet would eat more than that. . I'd try gently increasing my fat (by 1-3 tablespoons a day),which will increase your calories, and probably affect your energy levels immediately.
