It's actually happening. I'm losing weight. 4.3 pounds!!! Who knew that all it took was a little will power and self control! Throw in a dash of motivation and unrelenting optimism - not to mention the awesome features and supportive people from this website - and there you go! Results. Feels good, man.

Cheat days... Who's for them? Who's against? And what's your reasoning? Today was my cheat day with my friend who's also following a similar diet. While I admit it was nice to eat some of the food I'd been missing or craving during the week, I wound up feeling far more sluggish and tired by the end of our little feast. It's never good to gorge, I realize that now. I'm looking forward to going back to my diet tomorrow, actually, which is quite strange for me. I like taking responsibility for the things that I eat! Who'd've thought it... But I still like the idea of cheat days. Maybe with a little less though... I can eat what I enjoy, but I shouldn't stuff myself until I feel sick. That doesn't make for a healthy - or happy - me.

So I'm listed on here as being on Atkins, but I feel like that's not entirely true. I'm simply on a low-carb diet. I read somewhere that your carb intake should be around 250 grams per day, if your calorie intake is around 2000, so I'm cutting that down and I aim to take in only 100 grams per day, along with cutting calories. I want to start exercising more, but so far I haven't found the time and/or motivation. Luckily, I do have a twenty minute walk to and from school, and I walk fast, so that's something! I may start running with some friends next weekend. I don't know, right now I'm just proud of myself for not going off my diet. It's been almost 3 days now, and I'm not kidding when I say that this is the longest I've been on a diet. I'm proud of my self-control! Baby steps, right?

I moved to Ukraine and started eating a million carbs a day. After living here 7 months, I finally got a chance to weigh myself at a friend's house. I found that I had gained 20 pounds. 20 POUNDS. I've never been incredibly active, and I've never been good at controlling my intake of food. I always ate what I wanted, when I wanted it. I'm not only trying to lose some of the weight I've lost and to get healthy... I'm trying to develop self-control and motivation. I'm done crossing my fingers. It's time to get to work.
