2020 Update: Now that I'm 70, wow I always thought that was so old...I take better care of myself now, exercise and diet. Quit drinking 3 years ago, lots of cannabis now. Cut out bike riding last year because I'm too fragile and don't have the reflexes I used to. I've increased my weight lifting and treadmill workouts. I'm working with Keto Lifestyle but I'm almost always above 50 grams of carbs daily. Tough life or not, it all depends on your attitude. The picture has my daughter and myself, ready to start the Verdugo Mountain 10K. Good Health to All

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm 62 and starting to think about all that Social Security Tax I've paid over the years. Now I want to make sure I get every cent back. Gettin in shape will help make that happen.

I started the diet on 8/5/07 at 240 lbs. I've floated in a range around that weight for about 18 years. My peak weight, after dinner one evening in 2003 was 253 lbs. I don't diet anymore, but I do count calories.

Joel Fuhrman's 'Eat to Live' diet is great if you like to eat quantities of food, like me. You can basically eat all the fruit and vegetables you want. Easy on process stuff, meat, sugar, fat and alcohol.

Here I am closing on the top of Hays St. Hill, Bay to Breakers 2010.

Grilled Honey Mustard Turkey Oat Burgers
Honey mixed in the burger creates a fantastic burnt sweetness, while the mustard adds a bit of tang and the oatmeal keeps it super moist.

Dinner too heavy
Tonight I cooked dinner. I used steaks from the package without first cutting them in to samaller pieces. I ended up with a 12 oz. piece of sirloin, way too much to eat. But, I was able to clean my plate. Now I'm stuffed. Haven't been there for a while. Don't want to get stuffed again, not a pleasent feeling.

Long Term Weight Reduction
I started dieting last August, using the Ali Plan. It is the fat blocker manufatured by GSK. Over the first 6 months I lost 30 lbs, starting at 240. I really feel better and more confident without all the excess weight. However, I've come to realize that it is not the fat blocker that makes the difference. Tracking your food intake makes the difference. I did it for 6 months, without fail. That really makes you aware of your calorie intake and eating habits, especially the bad ones.

I'm down to 199 and still losing very slowly, no more Ali Plan, just eating like a 'normal person'. I expect to get to my goal by August.

We can all get to a normal size, once we make up our minds, 'this is for me, I owe it to my body'. Good Luck
