kneal55's Journal, 16 April 2012

Very frustrated. I have been adhering to the diet very closely. My daily intake of calories is definetly down and my meal choices are certainly healthier choices (no sugar, no flour, no starchy vegetables) and yet 3 weeks in to this and the scale is barely moving. Anyone have suggestions to keep me going?

Just looking at the listing for you calendar for today, 4/16, it looks like the grams of fat is quite high compared to overall calories taken in while the carbs are low. I see the diet listed is Atkins so I am guessing that is why the carb number is so low, but keep in mind that without good carbs going in for your body to use as energy it will go into a defense mode and slow the metabolism down to protect itself. Do you also have some sort of exercise plan you are doing? Feel free to shoot me a message if you have more questions.

Atkins is a high fat low carb diet so your grams of fat look normal to me. I just started breaking out of a two month stall. I tried everything to break it and it would flucuate between like 3 pounds. What finally started breaking it was cutting out most processed meats (sausage, hot dogs, lunch meat) I also cut out coffee and have been drinking green tea instead and have been drinking like 70 ounces of water a day. You don't have too much to lose and it goes slower when you are towards your goal so I would keep that in mind :) I see you are in owl too so maybe two weeks of induction wouldn't hurt. Hope this helps!!

Oh GOSH! I am right there with ya on the scale moving very slow....and you and I are the same weight...136, I have 10 pounds to lose....and the scale didn't move my first two weeks of induction either! Now the scale is just barely moving...but at least it's going down :) HANG IN THERE!

The most likely reason the scale is moving so slowly is that you only have a few pounds left to lose. They can be the hardest to get off because your body is already in a healthy weight range for your height. If you don't exercise and are able, start. Exercise can be your best friend when you only have a small amount left to lose. Exercise will firm you up as you lose the last couple of pounds. Even a walk each evening will most likely help burn some extra calories. If you already exercise, then you need to have patience. The diet is working. Your almost there.
