makparis's Journal, 15 March 2010

Not my best week, I didn't meet one of my goals, to be honest I didn't really work for it either. So, the gain isn't all that surprising. I need to change my habits, I know. Reality is, we all know what needs to be done years and years of attempted diets has taught us a lot. I'm no exception. Thankfully, I'm not doing this alone and I have family that is pushy and is pushing me.

So, this week's goals: Exercise, Keep Logs and Drink water - in addition to my challenges.

I hope you all have had a lovely week and I wish the best for this next week.

7 Things I'm Grateful For:

1. Candles - Ooh they make my house smell good.

2. Dusted & Vacuumed Home - It makes my whole house just comfy.

3. Facebook - An easy way to inform a lot of people of what is going on in my life and stay informed about theirs.

4. Redbox - An easy & cheap way to get entertainment.

5. TobyMac - I've been a fan of his for years, he absolutely rocks!! And his latest album, Tonight, is fantastic!

6. Standing Lamps - We just bought a new lamp and I love the versatility of standing lamps.

7. Quiet Time w/ God - Without it I'm lost, with it I find peace. Hallelujah!

"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:7

Hi Melody: I saw your forum post on plateaus and your chart. I have encountered plateaus in the past and have broken through them with either Very Low Days (under 500 calories) or, free days (eat what you want for a day or two and start over again, some advocate that this be done once a week). If your focus is mainly exercise, you could begin to look at your calories. I've seen a lot of excellent work on exercise be overcome by not being aware of a ball-park number on what one is consuming. Good Luck! :-)

I can appreciate your journal for many reasons! I know about plateaus ... I need to remind myself how much I am blessed ... and I also live by God's word! Thank you so much for writing these words! Lean on Him & He will give you the strength to make it through this plateau! Definitely increase your water (I drink 3-4 liters a day), increase your cardio & watch your calories & fat intake. I often refocus by meditating on this verse ... 2 Timothy 1:7 ...For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. Blessings on your week ahead! :)

Hi makparis...you stick with it. I know how disappointed I get with myself when I feel that I have failed. You never fail as long as you try. It will get easier and it sounds like you have a great support system. Your commitment to eating better to teach you son good eating habits but do it for yourself too. You are worth it.
