Well I am not on the diet yet but I only gained 1 pound over Thanksgiving and I guess that is really good considering all that I ate. I am still planning on starting the diet in January. I am very motivated now and I would go ahead and start it but I dont want to start at the hardest time of the year during the holidays. I am eating a little better now. I am eating alot better than I was even though I am not on Atkins. I am drinking less sodas and not eating super high calorie breakfasts. I think I will just maintain though the end of the year but January 1 I will start shrinking!
276.0 lb Lost so far: 12.0 lb.    Still to go: 121.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 0.5 lb a week

1 lb over thanksgiving isn't bad, and it's good that you're watching what you eat. Good luck when you start!

I actually cut out processed carbs and most sugars a few weeks before I started Atkins and I lost a little weight before induction. You could just eat "better" until Christmas and then go gung-ho January 1st. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

By cutting back on sugars and refined carbs now you may avoid the bad withdrawal symptoms people who have addictions go through. I didn't think that I had a sugar problem, but I felt pretty tired and washed out for a couple of days during induction when I first did Atkins back in 2004. This time, no problems since I rarely eat sugar or refined carbs. You may not be officially "on the plan" but you will be paving the way for a smooth transition into induction!
