PoulC's Journal, 16 December 2016

Wow! I'm under 190 for the first time in a long while. 189.5 this morning, baby!!! I looked back over the past 2-3 weeks to see what the reason for the relatively "sudden" movement down is. It have to say it is due to more physical activity (which has actually been pretty small this week so far) and the elimination of wine during the week. I have also been eating lots of those grilled portabella mushroom and veggie stacks in various incarnations. I sure haven't been sticking to the low carb (<50 g) mantra, although I am certainly not eating a normal American (i.e. high carb) diet. Whatever the cause, I intend to keep it up until I meet my goal and then stick to it for maintenance. It is so easy to get back into the old unhealthy habits, not that anyone on this site would ever or has ever done that before, right?!?!?!? Oh and that bike ride I said I was going to take today to counteract the scalloped potatoes from last night; still gonna do it! It is nice and cool this morning; great day for a ride.

I cut my ride short and took an easier route because my left knee still gives me a little trouble. I managed a 58 minute ride. As I was cruising along I saw a hawk on the side of the trail in the grass. I figured he would take off as I got closer, but he just stood there watching me (like a hawk - LOL!) as I slowly pedaled by him 7-8 feet away. At his feet the grass was all bloody. He must have been eating some poor critter (it didn't look like much was left) and didn't want to be interrupted. Pretty cool to see that!
