Teacupsmom's Journal, 03 July 2016

I've noticed that while I have been using Splenda as a sweetener, I have either stopped losing weight or gain a few ounces/pounds. It's an up and down thing. Yes, I know my other foods have not been perfect, but they never were. Truvia and Stevia in the Raw packets seem to do the best for me. Today, I am putting the Splenda away, and using up the Truvia I have left.

I still find it hard to actually spend the money for the "better for me" things, because if I don't like it, I won't eat it. That is a waste of money and food. Boyfriend would probably eat some of it because he doesn't really care what he eats... not picky about anything. So, for now anyway, I stick to foods I know I like and just cut out those nasty breads and pastas as much as I can. Pasta and rice is easy...breads I miss a little.

I'm getting a little tired of making two different meals more times than not. So, I've been making his meal and I opt for something that's not even close to what he is eating. I can't force him to eat what I do. He did like the Pizza Casserole I made, more than I did actually, So I suppose I will keep looking for things like that. I just don't feel the need to eat much anymore so I'm not looking as hard for food stuff.

As depressed as I have felt the last few days, I have NOT gotten into the "eating for comfort" thing at all. Seems to have had the total opposite effect most of the time. Even the "eating out of boredom" doesn't happen much anymore, and when it does...it's a string cheese stick.

Every once in a while, I notice myself walking taller/straighter...like someone confident in themselves would. I don't know if it is happening all of the time. It's like sometimes my conscience is actually paying attention and I become aware of it.

This was just to remind myself that there have been changes and to put down what those changes are, that I have noticed anyway. To remind me... I want to do this, I can do this, and that even the little changes make a difference. Thinking about myself this morning, and I am proud of the weight I have lost, even if no one else is in my real life.

Good going, Teacupsmon! I see so many similarities with our journey. I admire your changed perception of food. I also keep reminding myself that food is not for comfort, it is not for stress relief, it is for fuel. If my car's tank is full, I will not pull up to the gas pump, just for fun. Likewise, if I do not need the calories, I am not going to eat because I am bored. Phew! It has taken me a full month of self-coaching to get to this point. Keep noting and celebrating your progress, no matter how tiny the step might be. Just as a massive wave is made up of tiny drops of water, so too your change will come from the many small but meaningful changes that you make each day.

LOL. Feel free to use it, I.C.M, I think you should recruit me as a ghost co-author. You will get lots more lines. :)

Ultimately, the only one you're doing this for is you. I've also found myself walking with a little sashay, sitting straighter when I'm driving. Even if the people in your 'real life' don't appear to care, you have friends here who do care very much, and want to see you succeed. Share the small victories with us, and let us root you on!

You are doing great! You are a nicer woman than I am. I told my man he is on his own in the kitchen. He eats what I make or makes his own. If I don't cook, he better fend for himself or he will be fasting right with me!

Thanks everyone. @ lady...not so nice...at least not all of the time. I can't force him to eat my food and if I left it to him, he would be eating that same thing every night...venison in the crock pot with potatoes and cream of mushroom soup... maybe he'll come around to my way, if he likes what I do make. I always make enough for leftovers or for him if he wants to try it. He benefits even if he can't find a way to be supportive. LOL

If you miss bread, look at Atkins' website for "muffin in a minute" there are many varieties that are low carb and microwave in a cup so you can make a serving for one. I use that for a quick "pizza" flat bread in a pan etc. Also Paleo cookbooks will have simple breads that won't send you into cravings because of the carbs. I exclusively use liquid stevia now. I use "The Vitamin Shop" store brand which can be purchased online and isn't bitter. Good luck, hang in there!

Thanks for the info M.M. @ Lady...no he isn't. He could stand to lose a "few" pounds. He has a TRUE beer belly thing going on. He's been eating a little healthier I guess...but it really does no good when he drinks a six pack or so a night...

One thing LCHF has going for it, it's carnivore friendly. When my guy eats the eggs and bacon, he doesn't bother making toast for himself and he is stuffed. Also, he has cut way down on pop. Your man may yet catch some of your good habits. Anyway, back to your original post, it's great you are feeling better about yourself. It's one thing to hear other people compliment you, and another when you feel it inside. It's like slipping into a new skin. Exciting times! 😊
