Well after 3 years of working days I am going back to work nights... So question for you all... I have been thinking of hitting the gym after work in the morning... Anybody have suggestions should I or not a good idea? Will continue my weekly regiment of going but worried about it effecting any sleep.12 hour shifts suck for this that is why I currently do not go before or after work. Maybe try it and see what happens ?

That's a tough one since everyone's body is different. When do you have a day off? I would suggest to try it out on a day you don't have to work the next day, that way if it's something that doesn't work for you, you can relax because you don't have to go back to work. And yes, 12 hour shifts are brutal! I feel for you. Let us know how it goes for you if you do decide to try it.

I think you should try it. A good workout could help you sleep better. Maybe just a 30 minute workout on workdays, I don't know how much or how often you work out or if those 12 hr shifts are 3 days/wk, but on your days off you could put in a longer workout.

Lot's of theories floating around regarding best workout times, I've found that for me whenever I can fit it in works best, lol....I do try to not burn myself out though and have also found that (for me) working out after a high calorie day is quite effective.

I work days, but I never have the energy before work. After work I feel much more ready for a work out, and it does not affect my sleep negatively
