fatgirl2fit's Journal, 26 May 2016

So happy with my result this week!!! yay :)

I have had 2 x 24 hour fasts. 3 days of exercise since Saturday (incl resistance training) and low carb (below 50g) since then as well. Also following 5:2 and 16:8. This is working for me but I am tweaking certain things as I learn more.

I found that this can be sustainable if my head is focussed on keeping busy and not fixating on the proverbial marshmallow.

On a side note, my other half has lost 2kg since last weeks weigh in following the same routine as me.

Good luck for the weekend everyone. Its cold and not easy to eat clean, but we can try.

Leksie, so true :) I didnt think that fasting could be so easy. Btw, an interesting read which validates much that we speak of here. Even with extensive chats with nutritionists I meet at work, almost every single one of them dig in their heels regarding skipping breakfast. I think many of us are proof that this works and that it is sustainable. http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html

Hi there. We'll done on your journey. I love seeing how other people do well as it shows me it can be done! I've been on diets all my life and never seem to break the 5kg loss line. I seem to always loose the same 5 kg! Anyway. I'm trying the 5:2 diet and was wondering what the 18:2 diet is that your talking about? Also, how much calories do you consume on fast days? Thx and good luck for the last couple of kilos!

It is 16:8 and it's also a fasting regime, where you have a 16 hour period of non-feeding, and a 8 hour window of feeding, i.e. if you start with dinner at 7/8 at night, then you would skip breakfast & only eat again from 11/12 the next day, so it's counting hours basically, because after dinner up to the next day's lunch would be 16 hours of not eating. Then when lunch starts, that's the 8 hour feeding period.

Chereen Willet the 16:8 Intermittent Fasting goes very well with the 5:2 Fast Diet. Basically you just stop eating around 8pm/9pm and only start eating again the next day at midday/1pm so that you get 16 hours of no food consumption. This means no breakfast but u can consume water, tea/coffee(minimal milk and use a sweetener), green tea, zero sugar soft drinks, etc. By skipping breakfast you get more calories to use for your Lunch and Dinner. Personally I found that breakfast creates hunger after consuming it but by not having breakfast it's easier to manage hunger especially on a "fast" day in 5:2 Fast Diet.
