Kppgreen's Journal, 03 May 2016

I have a terrible habit of beating myself up when I am not successful. I came home from work today and actually (this never happens) actually took out the ice cream. At least I measured it (94g) before sitting on the couch to eat it. I've gained weight since I started strict carb restriction, and more since I started counting calories. It's time to change gears and do something else.

KP, you just said a lot in your post. Don't give up on LCHF. Change your habits. What you in effect just said, whether you realize it or not is "This isn't working, I quit." Then went straight for the comfort food. If you are not succeeding, its because you are sabotaging yourself. You are not being honest with yourself. Do not be a quitter. If you do, NO diet, will ever work. Because you will keep giving up. And you didn't come to FS to be a quitter. You came here to WIN. And we want to HELP you win. We WANT you to succeed.

KTMM has good advice. It's too late now to beat yourself up over the ice cream you had, so just accept that you messed up (we all do now and then) and start over tomorrow. For me, it helps to log my menus for all meals and snacks for the next few days. That way, I can see exactly where I might be heavy on carbs and how I stand on calories for the day. And if I want to change something, I can enter it and see the impact right away. Sometimes just seeing it in black and white keeps me on track. Hang in there and take it one day at a time!

Suggestion for "Something Else" => 1) Find a True Reason to Drop; 2) Fire Up that Garbage Disposal and Run that Ice Cream (and any other lingering shiznet) right down that bad boy. Do this without consideration for other household members. 3) Cut Your Calories by 500/day for the next 10 Days 4) Weigh IN & Post Daily

That was excellent restraint with the ice cream - and that's progress! Some good points here. If your issue is that you are chafing against having to restrict your eating in any way, you will have trouble doing any diet. (Been there.) Instead of thinking about what you can't (really "oughtn't) have, think about the foods you will be eating that you really enjoy. Start your diet with your favorite foods that fit within the parameters of your chosen program. Consider that the other, non-diet foods are ones you are just setting aside for now. If your cravings are for sweets you may have yeast overgrowth; yeasts feed on sugars that come from carbohydrate foods. Don't feed them and their numbers will decrease, as will your cravings. Low carb is the best way to get a handle on those yeasties so you can run the show, not them.

Track n weigh it alllllllllllll! every thing! You have to have accurate accounts of what you are doing to know what to change if anything.. P.s. Jimmie's on to something..

To be truthful, weight loss is not easy. As Jimmiepop said in point #1, find a reason YOU want to lose weight. It has to be something you really want deep down. Then remove the trigger foods from your surroundings. Pick a diet plan you can live with and don't feel deprived. You can do this!
