perhaps you could GOOGLE search an article titled, "Why the Scale Lies" to learn you could be losing inches even though the scale isn't moving

My scale is under the bed out of sight per trainer's orders. Instead, I am trying on a pair of shorts I want to wear at the end of April to Florida once in a while. I've lost inches and that makes me keep going! PS..some on here call it the idiot box so maybe they are right! Lol

I realize the scale sucks, but I have a a lot of weight to lose.. so I do use it as a guide... I did put the scale away for months, and I didn't lose a lb... because I fooled myself into cheating... this really does help me stay on track...

Over your last 13 food logs, you've averaged 1,752 calories. That is far too much to expect the scale to move and move consistently, there is no caloric deficit, no reason for you body to use any of the fat it has stored for energy.

Not sure I agree there, Mahjohn. I think the body uses calories to maintain fat stores too, but even cutting 50 calories might be enough to get it moving. I know when I was 170 I was looking at a calorie intake of about 1700 calories, but then I was quite active. I'd be more interested in maybe some walking being added to the effort if that was possible? Even to the end of the block and back will quickly see a gain in energy and a feeling of well being. Certainly there is lots of reserve and a harder cut to around the 1300 mark would be beneficial.

@northern...agreed, however, counting calories is very subjective and very difficult to nail it down to 50-100 calories when even the best calorie counting can vary by up to 200 calories. Some people succeed at it, others don't.

This is true. I suppose that being that precise would pretty much require a constant, consistent diet of the same foods. I know it's simpler for me when I nail it down to repetitive meals. That might be something worth trying, Barb. We're with you.

Hey, Barb...keep at it, girl! You'll get there! I've been stuck for 2 months...probably more. Finally got the scale to move this week. I thought about fasting, which I've done before with success. I decided to just not eat one day until I felt drained. I'm up at 5:30, and made it til about 2. Had a protein shake, which filled me up. Finally had dinner around 6, and I was done. Did this 3 days, and I'm finally down! I think I was just eating too many calories.
