I know the scale is not the best way to measure success but it's hard to get out of that mindset I've had forever about weight!!!
Measured myself today and may weigh in every couple of weeks instead. Don't want to feel crappy about gaining 1/2 a pound anymore!!! I'm going the low carb way so maybe a glucometer? Anyone have one? If so is it helping?
156.5 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 16.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 0.5 lb a week

Multiple measures are good. I got out the tape measure to take waist, hip, and thigh measurements every couple of weeks. I just ordered some inexpensive fat calipers, too, to get an estimate of body fat percentage. Since I have been weight training at the gym, I am adding muscle mass -- and bone mass, I hope -- which are more dense tissue than fat. Between those and just looking at how my clothes fit and annual blood tests with my checkups I may get a fuller picture as I try to shave off surplus fat and improve my overall health. Just some things to think about.

Awesome! that's what I do too, except the blood work.

We're all very 'weight centric'. I tend to fluctuate inside of about a 5 pound range over a week. It's something you will eventually come to terms with. Hang in there.

Thanks everyone for your comments, really appreciate all of your insight! I measured myself Friday and I am noticing my clothes are slipping on instead of me pulling them on at the waist, so soething is happening... I also started lifting some light weights two times a week so I know I'm putting on muscle. I'm just too impatient!! When I was younger it was sooooo easy to lose! Guess I have to face up to the reality of my age. : ( Great idea on the calipers Karenbledsoe ! I just bought a glucometer and the strips etc that go with it and I have a feeling it's going to be the expensive route. I don't even know yet what numbers are good to see if your in ketosis... I have a lot to learn!! Northernmusician, thanks that is something I need to consider as well! I think a monthly weigh in may be good! Thanks again everyone!
