DairyKing's Journal, 17 August 2015

Good Morning, FS Warriors! Yeah, I've been a bad boy. Got complacent and lost a few battles with the fat monster. Enough is enough. I'm over it. I'm getting too old for this crap. Too hard to take it off once it goes on. This time it's coming off and staying off. Beware of friends bearing gifts. :D You know, "Free food always tastes better!" The women bring goodies to Sunday School, the Seniors hold buffets, friends take you out to dinner, and then you reciprocate. Salesman bring pizzas and pastries. OK, enough already. I'm going to eat when I'm hungry, stop when I'm full, and give my body enough time in between to tell the difference. I've got to get out of the habit of wolfing my meals down; I'm not in the service anymore. I've got time to enjoy a meal, in moderation. Portions have always been my nemesis. It's time to exercise some restraint. Self Control, you are going to be my friend. I know I shunned you in the past, but this time it's going to be different. I've learned my leson. Toodles!

I hear ya on the portion control which gets sabotaged by wolfing down food. This is my number one problem, too. I don't need the large quantities I eat but how do I stop? I don't, I just quit eating 3 meals - 4 meals a day. I got back on the 16:8 IF to see if it will help. I skip breakfast now. It seems to help holding off on that first meal of the day. It hasn't killed me yet. LOL! Good luck. Missed you!

LOL - DK, if I didn't see you in another week...you were on my "hit list" for a private message! Missed you, Buddy.

Thanks, Buddies! Time gets away from you when you are being bad. I missed you guys too, but I was kind of embarrassed at my lack of self control.

No judgment here!

I am the SAME way DK,,just tell them that you are highly allergic you found out, and you have to be very careful of the things you eat, so you will enjoy their company even more. If they want to know what your problem is, tell them you break out all over and start swelling.

Hi DK! Happy to see you. Your journal entries were always fun to read. No fooling around, you're gonna get it done this time. :)

No competition or judgement here. I did worse than you did in just a couple of months! So true... it comes off a lot slower than the weight went on. Sigh.

It is great having supporters that have been on this journey with me. I looked at my journal history and I have over 800 entries. Maybe I ought to go back and practice what I preached. Haha, we all know that saying and doing aren't always the same thing, are they? Well, if it wasn't for you guys, I'd probably be twice as big right now. Even though you don't judge, there is a certain level of accountability amongst friends. Thanks, everyone.

Glad you're back. We never get too old for this trip. And it's what keeps us going. How are the pups?

The dogs are doing well. Mack is 130 lbs (about 20 more than he should be); Onyx just got spayed. They take turns worrying me by not eating but they are fine. Funny you should mention them; I just took an unfortunate rabbit away from Onyx. The rabbit was probably about a year old. I guess she had to show me that she was not a vegetarian; I would have taken her word for it.

So glad you're back! I have missed your entries; I always look for them. I find them to be inspiring and humorous and enciteful. We've all stumbled along the way; we brush ourselves off, screw up our courage and move on. The hard part is actually changing the way we've learned to live. How do you change your mindset about something; this is the way it is with our family, this is what I learned growing up and now, it's time to rethink the things that got us where we are. The easy part is holding each other up and offering encouragement when it's needed.

One thing you might do is ask your friends to support you by taking you to really healthy places. It can be fun to go to a vegan restaurant you've never tried before. Or suggest a competition at Sunday School to see who can bring in the most delicious healthy snack. Get people on your side. (It's better for them, too!)
