K, just had my weigh in and gained a pound but its all good. Got my meal plan today and its not as bad as I thought. The hardest part is going to be the mornings. I'm only supposed to have 200 calories but I have to admit that I'm a coffee addict. Having only the one coffee in the am is going to be really hard, but as they say, nothing is ever easy! Any tips on a really good sugar substitute?

Hey DJM...without a doubt Splenda (0 cals, 0 total fat, 0 total sodium, >1g of carb, 0g of Protein) it taste the best of the substitutes and 1 pkt. = 2 tsp. of sugar. Many of you diet drinks went to using Splenda because it does not have that weird after taste of many substitutes. Now there is a new substitute on the market I want to try using the Stevia plant...which they have used in Europe for awhile. It just came on the market, but when I find the name I'll let you know my findings. Also...how about tea...will they let you have more tea...many plans let you have additional tea not coffee...Good Luck...your Buddy! Where did you get your meal plan...you say you just got it? What plan are you using? Curious

The new Stevia tastes like crap - bought a package in Wal-Mart (5 bucks) and tried it - Splenda and Sugar Twin is way better. There's a clinic here taht is funded by the government that is called the Wharton Medical Clinic for Weight Management. There all about teaching you a healthy lifestyle to lose weight instead of all those fad diets. They put you on an eating plan based on your age, height, weight and resting metabolic rate. You can eat basically anything that you want - you just have to follow the recommended calorie intake (as closely as possible, keep your protein and fibre up and your fat and carbs low!. I can have no more 203 carbs in the day and no more than 50g of fat. My protein should be around 130g, fibre 50g and 1800 calories. Morning is 200 cal, snack is 150 cal, protein 15 min before meals (75 cal), lunch 500 cal, snack 100 cal, protein before dinner(75cal), dinner 600 cal and evening snack 100 cal at least 1/2 hour before bed. Its pretty easy to follow and with the PGX before each meal I find that I'm not all that hungry. Its just cutting back on my morning coffee's that is killing me! I found that if I cut a little of luch and dinner I can still have my 2 morning coffees the way I like them!

i don't think i'd suggest Truvia, but i'd buy a no-name of the stevia extract. other artificial sweeteners have potential health hazards, & truvia might be subject to that too.
