Redporchlady's Journal, 19 February 2024

Just back from two week vacation and not counting macros. Back at it with my fat loss macro's until I am back at goal weight. Read an interesting article for women my age and for some of us even though I lift weights the scale is still important because of being post menopause and low hormones the muscle gain is minimal so watching our weight is a good indicator to keep off the extra fat. I train to keep muscle but my continued goal for 2024 is to get my waist below 30".
141.4 lb Lost so far: 30.6 lb.    Still to go: 11.4 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

You will reach your goal for sure! You are committed and strong! Love following you and you inspire me as we have such similar goals and workouts.

I am a lot like that too. Of course I want to get down to my goal weight. But even more importantly, I want my body measurements to change too. Good luck to you. Glad you had a good vacation.

Did the article say fat loss creeps off post pause? I'm not giving up but man dropping weight is so much slower than in my 40's and 50's. And it was faster even though I didn't add resistance until my late 50's when my knees got wonky. I'm 72 now and still tweaking my healthy weight management process - for when I get to my healthy weight! I only measure my waist to check the waist/height ratio. at 5'10" mine's never been less than maybe 32" in college.

Rpl-ive been struggling with my waist also. It is below 30” but i dont understand why i cant get it back to where it has always been when ive been at a healthy weight. It’s between 3-4” bigger than most of my life. I feel like i have no shape but am straight up and down. Do you feel like that? I lost my bootie on this weight loss also so that also diminished my curves. Weird getting older and how it affects body composition. You are so thin tho already so how much further can you go? You look fantastic and have conquered so much with regard to your health. Poster child for inspiration you are.🥰. Xoxo friend.

Well, its great to see you relaxing your regime and kicking back. You will hit the gym and diet re-energised, well rested, well nourished and ready to go again!

@OTB - thanks - The training at the gym going well as he backs us off and ramps us up in a short amount of time. It is the eating that my stomach thinks it should have more food after not thinking about what I ate for 2 weeks.

@JeanAlex- You will get there! It is definitely a work in progress all the time because there are always little setbacks but I think a vacation from it all is good too!

@sharon-Yes that is the problem it starts pre-menopause and post menopause it is hard. I honestly thought I could not get down to my goal weight because of it but the trainer was right and I just had to watch my calories and what I ate. It is just harder as we go into that phase of our life. I measure my waist/height ratio too but when I was in college I was a little over 100#'s at 5'9" Just could not gain weight no matter what I did. Then hit children, early menopause and cancer and I shot up to 180#. The weight lifting was a game changer for me and following the macros. Don't give up and keep trying things until you find what works for you! It is hard!

@YOH - I am straight up and down too! Like a board and no booty although mine has improved with the heavy squats but they say you cannot target your waist and my trainer says to lose more weight if that is what I want but I agree with you that I can't go any thinner than my goal weight of 130#. I am sure babies and menopause cause issues with our mid section but then there are women that seem to be able to do it. I think genetics must have something to do with it but I am going to keep trying. You look great and I think having more on top is a plus!!

@Anne- Yes I should have more carbs on board to hit the gym hard! LOL

HOLY COW RPL 100# when you were young at our height? That was so so so tiny. And you couldnt gain weight? Oh to have that problem now (well but weight at 135ish for me). I would love to have the problem of not being able to gain weight. O the trouble i could eat myself into😂

@YOH- that is how I got addicted to sugar. I literally would eat 3 snickers a day, cookies, you name it. I hated my body and feel much more at ease in my older body! It is odd what we all go thru that makes us who we are today.

I too was very skinny in high school and college. I weighed 99 lbs and was 5’7. I was straight as a board and had no boobs. All that came later when I had a baby. I went back for my 10 year reunion and everyone thought I got a boob job…I did not but never lost the growth after nursing. I also got hips and a small butt. (TMI) At my 10 year reunion I weighed 120. I thought I was fat! If I could only talk to my younger self….

@YOH - I am a lot better with my addiction but literally have to keep it out of the house or I will be in it all the time.

@Diana-Sounds like you and I looked the same in High School and college. I will have to dig out a picture. However having kids I did not get any of the boobs or butt! If we only knew then what we know now!
