Been having a hard time with depression lately.. and well apathy has come... just pretty depressed with a lot of things.. hard to keep motivated...and it shows... Over then weekend I ate a lot-- (one day-- was over 296 lbs).. hate this, that if I "cheat" only one day-- it comes and bites me in the behind... you know..
It is very hard to keep motivated, without the feeling of being accountable.. guess just not being in the best of moods will do it..
291.6 lb Lost so far: 51.4 lb.    Still to go: 96.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 7.0 lb a week

Cheating always seems like a good idea at the time, but then losing that weight for the second time really sucks. Are you part of any challenges that might keep you motivated? We'll do our best to help keep you accountable in a positive way:)

Hang in there and don't give up. I am in the 280s and struggling - motivated at times then ... and of course I gain. I found a book at the library by Judith S. Beck on strategies on losing weight - pretty solid advice. If you can, try going outside for a brief walk or just to hear the birds, etc. My doctor prescribed that for me sometime ago and it does help. The hardest step is making the first step like opening the door and going outside. We are all in this together so don't give up. The weight did not come on overnight and there are NO magic pills, potions, cures for weight loss so keep coming back to the boards and reading or writing. Take care

Stress is a huge factor in weight gain. When your stressed, your body is under attack, and to defend itself, it will hoard any incoming energy as fat through the release of Cortisol. Try to figure out what your triggers are when your are depressed, and if you know you cannot stick to a plan without "cheating", try a plan that allows you a "cheat" day once a week :-), ps...i hate the word cheat day, it's not a cheat day, once you understand what is going on, you know why it's a necessary day. Good Luck

The weekend's over, so now you can start over again. Don't dwell on what you did, just concentrate on what you have to do. Use your success at losing all that weight to beat down the problems your facing now. Don't give in and focus on not letting it defeat you and everything else will fall in line over time. You proved your not a loser so let's get back on the program.

Look back at where you started, and you will see that you have done great things! One bad weekend doesn't mean it's all gone. Just record it and move on to the next day - you can do this!

Sorry that you've been feeling depressed...try not to let a few days of poor eating get you down. You can take any weight gain right back off pretty quickly. I was stuck recently, not making much progress and feeling a lack of motivation - just deciding not to go there and getting things jump started again has renewed my motivation. You've done great so far and any day can be a fresh start. Make that day today...you know how to lose the weight, you can do it!
