Lori in Lakewood's Journal, 19 May 2014

My girlfriend Suzanne and I went all the way around the lake at Crown Hill Park walking the outer ring. We also walked from my house for a total of 2.5 miles ! Boy am I gonna feel it tomorrow !

Hubby and I have been watching our menus and and carb intake closely. Hidden carbs everywhere. Those grilled shrimp ? The seasoning has starches in it so that the seasonings cling to the shrimp when they are being grilled.

Tonight for dinner I made Swedish style meatballs with a heavy cream sauce that has bacon and mushrooms in it. we also had small portions of sugar snap peas on the side.

I have been soooo addicted to sugar for so long. Drinking water has never been easy for me. It feels like it strips my throat dry and it had never been thirst quenching.
I tried to go without sugar in my tea when I first started this diet and made my goal to stick with no sugar tea for a day. First I tried Stevia. DISGUSTING and it left a gummy yucky texture in my mouth and it was hardly sweet at all. Not impressed with that product at all.
Next I tried just no sugar at all. It was awful. The tea was just NASTY tasting ! Couldn't stand it therefore I didn't take in much fluidwise that day.
After doing that, water didn't seem so bad. Amazingly, I haven't touched anything but water since then ! I am shocked ! LOL Now I average about 64 oz. daily, but I don't push it. I'm not gonna get hung up or feel guilty if I don't. There's no real logical reason to do so.

So far I feel better, have gained back some will to actually do something. My hubby says I seem happier to be around. We just wish the Atkins diet hadn't had such a negative stigma to it. We probably would have tried it much sooner. Years ago.

Sugar is hard to break. And drinking water is hard to incorporate too. Great changes :)
