FitOKay's Journal, 05 March 2014

Yesterday calories were between 1500-1600. Going to try and drop calories back down today. I think this sick thing is all but passed. Lungs still tight but getting better, only a couple more days of prednisone so they should be loosening up soon. I'm a little worried about trying to limit my calories with prednisone still in my system since it makes you feel so hungry. So today is a no pressure just see if I can step. If not I'll just stick to maintenance a couple more days. Weight is staying at 160 so I'm obviously not over eating and that's a good thing all on it's own. Hope everyone's hump day is going well!

My calories are staying between 1400 and 1600 on a good day. I have not lost any weight but I am happy that I did not gain any. My goal for next Wednesday is to be less than 163 lbs. and praying it be 162, even if it is the high 162’s. I am glad you are coming back around this way, and make sure you are getting in enough protein.

It's probably not ideal to start limiting your calories while you're still recovering. You're probably better off playing safe and supplying your body with the extra energy it needs to fight this condition and, when you're fully recovered, you'll quickly make it up since you haven't gained much :)

Hump day! ahah. That's an expression I wasn't familiarized with. :) Nice!

MS Jacqueline that is great. Not gaining is just as important and shedding the weight. You are right, I do need to get more protein in. It's something I have always struggled with. I've never been a huge meat eater (not vegetarian or vegan, just naturally never favored meat much). I tend to forget to try and choose other protein rich options. I use to eat kidney beans a lot as a snack when I was younger for protein (I'm from the South originally and boiled peanuts that are common there and I love taste very similar to heated kidney beans from a can, weird huh?). You are doing great, keep it up =)

Lol, hump day is pretty big around here, we even have some specials at businesses and on the radio stations for it each week. I remember thinking how odd it sounded, but now I'm just use to it. You are probably right Euheide on the limiting but it actually wasn't that hard. Even with fixing burgers and fries for dinner (I basically just subbed a salad for the fries). Last night and today was our first fever free day, so I was feeling pretty good and wasn't ever hungry, which was surprising. I hadn't thought of it until this evening but my calories have probably been 100-200 higher then I've been recording because of the cough drops I've been using (those things have like 10 calories a piece!). So I probably have been truly right at maintenance the last week and my calories today were probably closer to 1400 then 1200.

Yesterday was not a good day with my eating, yet not one of my worst days. I made a decision to stop buying cookies yesterday and once the one’s I have are gone, I am no longer going to eat them. I took chocolate out of my diet over two years ago and I do not really miss it. I am going to go without meat for the next week yet keep my protein up. I find the Akins shakes or protein shakes are a good source of protein. Met Rx protein bars are also a good source, yet I make sure that they are at least having 15 or more grams of protein. I tend to lean more towards 20 or more grams of protein. I got to get my eating together and I know I am stress eating. My works out have been good and I have made four days this week so far. I am going to work out tomorrow to complete my five days.

That's interesting about the hump days CalynLZ! :) That's great that you are all recovering! Yeah that looks balanced! :) It's unfortunate that medications will sometimes have calories and even sugar in them...

Regarding abandoning cookies Jacqueline, it's difficult but it's worth it health-wise. But remember that anything processed, even processed "healthy" food (like the bars, shakes, etc) might have components that are not very healthy. If you can get natural alternatives that would likely be healthier.
