chels21's Journal, 07 April 2020

I am so disappointed with myself. I let myself completely go back to old habits in a bad spell.of depression over a period of about a month. I over ate. a lot. didn't do anything due to my back injury and everything being closed due to COVID-19. the pool I've been using for physio has closed.
it took some time, and 4 new journals to organize my feelings, thoughts, nutrition, goals and everything in between and help from my fiancé to dig me out and start again. it feels like crap and everything hurts but I've learned, the less you do, the more it hurts. so even if it's a walk around the block, get up and move. stretch, do some housework (that won't hurt my back more.) and stop going back to old eating habits! forgive yourself and move on.

Great job on picking yourself up when you were down. You acknowledged the bad habits, found alternative ways to continue moving that won’t hurt and tap into your support system ( fiancé). Thanks for sharing your success story!

Congrats on forgiving yourself & taking care of your mental health thru journalling! You will find your rhythm again with the small changes. I have gained too, and trying to get myself out of my overeating junky food habit! We can do this, Chels! :)

Thank you! I've gone back to IF since there isn't much I can do other than walk and stretch. I am ever so slowly doing squats again but I need to be very very careful with them as they often hurt my back injury. But slow and steady wins the race. We got this. 😊 I like the support on this app too. Everyone is so amazing!

These things happen, don't beat up on yourself. You see the issue and are working to fix it, that's the important thing.

Girl remember you got this! No negativity only positive outcomes only, remember that green tea is your friend and it’s caffeine if you need much better than cream and sugar in coffee! I was looking up little things last night doing research on how i can lose my pouch and there are so many options on of workout on YouTube literally so many! One step at a time, baby steps you are beautiful smart strong and independent! You can do this

How do I change my picture instead of cherries...

when you look at the bigger picture and see that you have your whole lifetime to reach your goals which include just living a healthy lifestyle things become a lot easier. There is no time restriction and there is always tomorrow if you feel like you didn't push yourself for the better today. it's all about the mindset! love that you're being positive and remember weight-loss is mostly what you eat so don't be hard on yourself with the not being able to exercise!

I feel you, but it seems like you've done it before and you will do it again. I was feeling the same way recently but I am dusting off the frustration and disappointment and being nice to myself. These are difficult times filled with anxiety and it seems like you have even more going on. That same body is pulling you and carrying you through it. Let's be nice to our bodies and nourish it back to where it needs to be. You got this! We got this!

I think a lot of us are going through dips (pardon the pun) as we adapt to the new normal. Working from home and having our YMCA closed means I have to step it up and take control. My week of snacks disappeared in just 4 days, mostly due to boredom and loneliness. Time to start anew, paring down my shopping list and busying myself with more activities than Netflix

Hey babe! You’re not alone! I’ve been having trouble in motivating my self to eat healthy and workout, in this pandemic it is very hard to stay on track. You got this boo❤️

I too am having issues with the Covid. That and menopause. My occupation is a housekeeper (3 days per week) but have learned how it helps to keep my weight down. I also have an older husband that isn't motivated to do anything wether it be food, booze or just being active. He has succumbed to the idea that when you get older you don't have to worry about anything. So its hard for me to stay on track with food. I too have started some new journals to try and get a handle on this. I am new to this group and you're post is making me think that I need a group like this to help support my efforts as I am the only one that is supportive of me in this house. I guess the first step is to recognize...which you have done. The next is to take action...which you have done (journals). We are both in the same boat right now. I think we will be fine. <3 This pandemic won't last forever. Look forward to seeing your progress. :D

I went through this as well after a car accident. I have a herniated disc. I learned that not stretching or moving made it worse and more stiff. try to look up some stretches on YouTube for strengthening your back and core and try just 10 mins per day to start. dont give up! and dont be down on yourself we all fall down but it's the perseverance that makes us all stronger. good job recognizing the depression and the "down on ourselves" mentality. it's an up and down battle. you got this!

I’m the exact same. I just picked myself up today and I said enough is enough. This is a journey and it’s hard. If it wasn’t hard, then everyone would be easily doing it. Just keep your chin up and eyes moving forward. Baby steps forward is better than no steps forward. The time is going to pass and it doesn’t matter how long it takes for you to achieve your goal. As long as you stay on track and keep moving forward, you will get to your goal......this was the talk I had with myself today!

The tricky thing with depression is that it makes us not want to do anything that will help us break out of that feeling. It’s hard to say “hey if I go for a walk my depression will get better! Because a major side effect of depression is a lack of motivation”. That’s a good step in being aware of the benefits you will see by doing what you’d rather not though! Congrats and keep it up!
