I resisted having a brownie at a coffee place I had a class at, so a pat on the back, Mary! I had a very good day. No cookies, candy or ice cream. I think I will try more low carb for a day because I am still adding too much by the end of the day. I was very moderate, though, which is a good start for me at this time. When my husband went out of town for a few days, I indulged, and even had a meltdown thinking about how I would have to come down to reality and cut out the cookies, candy, and ice cream that gets me out of control all too often.

Wel done Mary, i know it is so difficult I love homemade cakes and find it hard to resist one, but don't deprive yourself completely, perhaps have a day at the weekend when you allow yourself one as a treat, I also find ice cream isn't too high in cals as long as you stik to having a small one! (American ones tend to be so big with lashings of sauce, they were when we holidayed in Florida) I took my mum out yesterday and she loves ice cream so I got her a large one from the local farm shop where they're made, wow it was so big and she's only little but she managed it all! I ordered a child size one and found it fine, I have to say i ate it as slow as possible to enjoy every lick, honeycomb flavour mmmm very nice. Anyway what I'm trying to say is do allow the occaional treat but remember to put it in your food diary, I've found I now make better choices of the treats I choose to have, sorry candies and american size cookies are so no good for you, it is the amount of sugar and fat in them that not only wreck the diet but from what I've read it can trigger off bingeing, Keep up the good work and we'll get started on our challenge next week to which should help, all the best Denise :)

<pat, pat, pat> More pats on the back for you! I don't know if they fit in your plan, but I nuke (microwave) sweet potatoes and cut them in slices. They make a nice snack, are healthy and they are SWEET. Amazingly, I've found it is NOT a requirement to eat sweet potatoes with slabs of butter an salt! They are great plain. Good luck!
