Here we go again ~ doc wants to do gastric bypass ~ not for weight but for GERD & DDD. I just don't want to spend the rest of my life like that. So that is my incentive this time ~ avoid surgery. Lower my weight by myself. I started by doing meal & snack prep ~ that has to make it easier! I told the hubs this time to help ~ and he will. Also have to break the addiction to Diet Dew ~ have done it before & can do it again. Bought flavored carbonated water to give me my bubble fix. Froze grapes to use for ice cubes. Other suggestions?
I have a couple of low carb cookbooks ~ I am diabetic ~ but so much of the stuff I just don't like ~ brussel sprouts, eggplant, mediterainian...help!

Hey! You can do it! My father and aunt both had gastric bypasses over 15 years ago. They lost weight, but I don’t think it’s an easy way out. They have gained weight back and have lots of issues with food/alcohol.
Surgery is scary, and there are SO MANY people out there that have lost weight with just diet and exercise. Keep up the great work!

Focus on what you like. Find a list over low carb veggies (and it is a long list) and start. Build meals around proteins. But cut out grapes!!! I agree you can do it

Hagatha, dieting is no fun, you need to find a way of eating you like and can sustain. For me, it was keto - lost 20% of my weight at age 62, reversed my Type 2 diabetes. GERD gradually reduced as I lost weight. I always had fullness of my thyroid, finally reversed that by taking Selenium supplement.
