amanda123's Journal, 17 June 2010

I had another test in economics yesterday. I made an 82.5. I was happy with it because I really thought I was going to do worse. I could have waited till next Tuesday to take it but I am getting behind in Biology so I needed to get it out of the way so I can spend more time on that class. Weighed this morning 248.0! :) I am so happy but I am so sad for my husband. He has been 6 days now with no weight loss and he is getting discouraged. I don't want him to give up but I can understand why he would be upset. He said he will stick with it thru the weekend at least. I hope if he does give up he will at least try something else and not just go back to his old woe. He lost about 9 pounds the first week and this week nothing. I really hope that he loses some before Monday because I really like having him do this with me. :(
248.0 lb Lost so far: 40.0 lb.    Still to go: 93.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Amanda, is he getting in enough water?

FANTASTIC on that economics score - go girl! You need to practice more for biology ;-) Since I started chugging litres of water I have seen a big difference. PLEASE don't let him give up. Tell him to come on here and get some buddies (if he isn't already) - we can be his virtual cheerleaders!

Yes, he drinks alot of water because he works in the heat. I think he takes 6 16 oz to work with him each day and he drinks it when he gets home too. He is on here but doesn't have buddies. I don't see him doing a journal but he does keep track of his food. He is okcody and he is on my buddy list. I have looked at his food and he seems to be eating right. I really don't want him to give up. I am so stressed today. How do you decide what to go to school for? I have done office/acocunting/HR for years so I thought I would get a degree in Business - either HR or Accounting. Well, I am seriously wondering if this is what I want to do for the rest of my life? I live in a small town and I am have been thinking about teaching.... how do you decide? I have to register for fall and right now I have most all of my basics finished up. I think I need to go talk to the councelors or something.

Amanda - go to school for something that interests you otherwise you will hate it. And remember, any degree will get you just about anywhere. Even if you get an accounting degree, you could still work in marketing. I had a boss in collections that had a music degree for crying out loud. Don't ever think your degree ties you to one job for the rest of your life or you'll never be able to pick something.

OK - no more stressing - I know I would have a hard time being a teacher. I can't get my own kids to mind me much less anyone else's. They would run over me and my nerves are too freyed to handle 20 plus kids at a time. I am going to stick with business. It's what I know and I'm good at it...... I will stop thinking of the what if's.

Amanda, tepetski is right. You can just get your BA without specializing in any one field. If teaching is your passion, look into it. Are there teaching jobs where you are at? I know our schools have been letting a lot go so you need to think about that too. But getting stuck in something you don't enjoy doing will not be any good.

Amanda, my dh is experiencing the same problem with the weight loss on Atkins. I am hoping that he starts feeling better, and that will be enough to keep him on it. He has had the worst case of Atkins Flu I have ever seen. But for now he is sill committed to staying the course.

Stef, make sure he gets some broth and avocados. He'll feel better real soon.

I know my husband didn't lose like he should have on Atkins because he wasn't as careful as he could have been counting the carbs. He has lost 25 lbs. while I lost over 40 and men should lose lots faster. Weighing every day is not such a good idea - it leads to more impatience with weight loss. Sometimes it just takes a few days...

Thanks for all the support guys. I am going to stick with a degree in business either in accounting, or HR. I am going to go post a new journal now with some updates on my hubby's loss.
