Sorry for your friends bad news...You're right Glenn, lie is very unpredictable...A very hot day here today as well...hoping for a cool down after dark...have a good evening glenn...huggggs 

It was difficult for me as I was there when she got the call from her mom and never met her family except her brother and wife once and it was their son-in-law and Debbie had just gone to a funeral this morning of all things. Debbie and I had a falling out for a time and are good friends now again and will be until I leave, Bruce, Shawn and Luanne are other friends, but Bruce is the easiest to get along with as he doesn't argue and the conversation never gets controversial. I am sure I will make good friends once I get to AZ. It got to 98* in Hartford about forty miles south of here. It will be hotter in AZ but nice in the winter. I am keeping busy - having a tough time with a short story that needs a long rewrite already. It is apocolyptic and in the future and it is one of the more difficult things I've written, but I am not going to drag it out and am going to go onto something else soon...  

Anyway, drd3775, I know it was hot in Maine too, I get NECN on cable - the New England cable news network. I did spell 'apocalyptic' wrong in the paragraph above and noticed it after I wrote the paragraph. I am going to write like three more short stories and then get to typing them and then focus on my ancient Greece fiction fantasy novel that is long and complete that. I probably won't send any work out until I'm settled in AZ but I'm not definitely sure yet. Hope you have a cool evening - I'm in air conditioning... 

Glenn you have to be a tremendous writer. Your usage of words and your vocabulary are incredible. I love reading your journal. You are a very intelligent guy and it shows in your journal. I am in a foul mood tonight because I caved in and ate 2 donuts today. Am so mad at myself. Will have to start fresh tomorrow. Ate more calories today than I have eaten in 5 months. Grrrrrrrr Don't mind me Glenn, have yourself a wonderful evening. Arizona may be hot but the humidity is probably real low so won't feel so bad. Just have to watch hydration. Nite Glenn. 

Thanks for the kind words Next Number. I have become a decent writer I think with time. I have been writing since before the kids were in college now were born so there is some experience there. It is just a matter now of getting something out that will get published. I read as much as I can too. I have the Internet at my disposal, which writers in the past didn't. If you cheat maybe count calories too so things don't get too out of control. I don't eat much sweets but have gone down on calorie intake so that in time will eventually balance me out if I eat more carbs once in a while. All of us have those days when we eat something sweet don't worry about it...

Very interesting word, I'm not sure I would know how to use it though. You're right, life is unpredictable, I'm sorry to hear about those bad news. I try to avoid sweets as well, most of the time I will only have sugar from fruits. But I think a cookie or two once a week is not bad. I guess I'm lucky I don't like sweetened coffee or tea! If heat bothers you, feel free to send some to me lol! I could use a few more degres no problem. Have a great night. 

Jessyline - maybe I could use the word in a context such as "The zeitgeist from especially the mid 1800s to 1900 could often be considered one of everyone thinking of going westward in America." I have written a western and going westward was a big part of the spirit of the times in America then. Just an example, perhaps. Anyway, as far as the heat goes I'm not complaining. I'm a summer person! A violent lightning cold front came through an hour ago and was scary!
