Nehiyaw's Journal, 07 March 2012

I'm in such a good frame of mind right now, i've decided to try to get the most out of it. So after work today, i'm going to go to popeyes and get one week of cheats. I used to do this in my younger days to cut weight, but probably not a good idea in my old days, haha. So I'll only do it for a week, unless i can't sleep or i get jittery. (I used to down 4 raw eggs i the morning too, yikes, couldn't do that now. I blame that on Arnie's pumping iron movie, haha, so gross)

Anyway, one week cheats for me. I'll do high protein, low weight heavy rep at the gym on major muscles. 15 minutes of interval. Then two cycles of cheat pills a day: Probably caffeine pills, "fat burner" (maybe hydrocut or nutra trim), an omega 3/6/9 supp; and we have a pretty good owner at the local popeyes, who i'll pick his brain on any other suggestions. High water, no sugar, no white flour/simple carbs, no dairy, all the other c r a p we all know.

OK, starting tomorrow, hardcore old guy, pretending to be a teenager, for one week. I'm hoping to drop three pounds of fat and keep my muscle (as I don't have any extra to spare).

i know, i might have second thoughts when i'm there. if i get my thermo and heart rate up, eat clean, i used to be able to cut weight pretty quick. (i'm using the word "used" to much, hahaha, am i sounding like Al bundy, scoring 4 touch downs for polk high??). Anyway, the popeyes guy may laugh at me and send me over to natures health food for some herbal stuff, haha. I'll keep you updated. Dwayne

(And then by the next Wednesday you will have regained the weight that you lost because of cheating after you go back to your 'normal' ways..) Sorry, I'm not your buddy and I don't know much about you, but I saw Sarah comment on your journal, so I read it.. There's a reason why fad diets and cheat pills don't work in the long run. You need to figure out how to make good decisions as a lifestyle choice, not just have crash weeks interspersed with binge eating.. it will be much safer and healthier for your body. Again, I don't know you and don't really have any business telling you what to do, so go ahead and do what you need to do, I just couldn't walk away from this without saying something... sorry..

I think the kick-ass excercise idea is great, the low carb high protein diet idea is great, everything about what you're wanting to do is great EXCEPT the pills...those scare me. Once upon a time I was a 300 pound teenager and I was prescribed a diet amphetamine pill called adipex. Yes...I was all speeded out and jittery and not hungry and TRUE I did lose a lot of weight...but it always made my heart feel funny and now I have two heart murmers. Even if the adipex didn't cause that (which i believe it did) it didn't help it. I'm just against the diet pills and caffine pills and steroids...I dont like taking pills...I dont hardly even take asprin. But its ultimately you're decision...just promise me to be careful!

OK, thats what I needed to hear. NO cheating. I guess I have to do this the hard way, (grumble, grumble, kick an invisible ball, frowning with pouty lips). Erika, please don't say sorry!!! I read your posts all the time, consider you a fitness guru and appreciate the time you took to write. who knows, maybe my heart is silently thanking you two. Feeling a little over zealous today, thanks for giving me a reality check girls.

Awww well now you're making me blush. :) I do have an Exercise Science degree, so that helps me sound impressive every so often - haha... I just don't like to overstep boundaries with people that aren't asking for help (which you weren't), so I didn't want to offend you. Glad Sarah and I could talk you out of your cheat pills!! :) It might be the hard way, but it will be the permanent way if you can make it a total lifestyle change! Channel that extra energy into some healthy cooking and extra cardio! :)

I must agree with Sarah and Erika. In the end the only thing you will cheat are your chances of keeping off the weight you are trying to lose. Low carb and lots of exercise sounds like a good approach. On a side note, I kept giggling at your post when you mentioned Popeyes. Where I live, Popeyes is a fried chicken restaurant. Not exactly the place to go when trying to lose weight. :-)
