flaxseed's Journal, 14 February 2010

This has been quite a week. I spent the first 3 days painting the kitchen and then washing the blinds, cleaning windows and all the cupboards and putting the stuff back. I'm really pleased with the results and I already had the paint so it didn't cost me a penny. It looks clean and fresh and I'm sure the exercise did me good.

Sadly, it went down hill from there onwards. I cut my thumb badly opening a tin. Had to have half a dozen stitches and antibiotic and tetanus injections. It was very painful and swollen for a couple of days. Its settled down a lot now but the inconvenience is driving me mad. Its my right thumb and I'm right handed. I can't get money out of my purse or lift a pan or kettle and anything that involves gripping is out. Can't even do my hair properly. The stitches don't come out til next Thursday. I reckon I'll be mad by then! My mood has slid southwards too and eating has been BAD. I'm unable to cook much so meals have been scrappy and unhealthy. I'm avoiding the scale til Monday but it glares reproachfully at me every time I go in the bathroom.

The weather has been very mixed for the last week or so. There has been some hard frosts, glorious sunshine, rain, mist and a few snow flurries, sometimes all in one day. The rain has washed away the last of the snow except for the hill tops but the forecast is for some more on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hope they've got that wrong or that it won't be much.

Here's hoping everyone has a good FS week

Take care Pretty Lady! Easy does it with those tin cans! I know what you mean about the mix of sunshine, wind, snow, rain, more wind, and slush! Mother Nature certainly rules. We are longing for days when we can ride our bicycles in the afternoons! MUCH LOVE.

Sorry to hear about the incident with the tin can!! I hope it heals quickly and you don't really go mad!!! I've lost complete control on the food front ... I think I decided to give in completely today. Sure I'll regret it later.

I just love that you painted your kitchen and did your spring cleaning. WHat a wonderful feeling that must be!

Oh no about the thumb! Hope you are feeling better soon. I am sure looking at the newly painted and cleaned and tidied kitchen will help brighten your days.:)

Ouch! I can almost feel that tin cutting into my own finger. Yes, it's an inconvenience but, it's really nothing flaxseed. Thank God you will be over it shortly, and you may even become more ambidextrous as a result of it all. After all, we *do* need to be versatile. ;-) Try to be calm about the food and the weight, we all look far too closely at them and I'm not sure that it is at all that necessary. You will be fine...

It's amazing how one little thumb or toe can put you almost completely out of commission. AND HURT LIKE NO ONE COULD IMAGINE! Hang in there... not much else you can do.
