I'm interested in the restorative benefits of fasting. I think that a 18/6 intermittent fasting lifestyle would fit my habits really well. In the morning I like to have club soda, it's so refreshing. I might have black coffee or tea. I don't get hungry for several hours and hate feeling like I have to eat soon after I get up. Waiting 4 hours before my first meal is a bit of a stretch but do-able. This plan will have me eating two meals a day. I'm also doing the eating before 6pm challenge. I'll probably eat my first meal around noon and the second around 4:30 - 5PM.

Intermittent fasting has been studied and results in a leaner body as you burn fat 12 hours after a meal. So if I understand the principals I'll be burning fat for 6 hours a day. This scheduling will fill me up and without the night snacking potato chips and beer or wine after I'm full from dinner I can cut quite a few calories. Also, eliminating a meal a day gives my schedule a break. Now maybe I'll really have time to exercise or at least one less excuse not to.

Hope this works.

Fasting is an interesting concept. That was always a nutritionist no no but a lot of nutrition "expert opinion" was just parroting what was thought to be common sense but had no empirical basis. Humans evolved in mild caloric scarcity. We thrive in it, have better health, and longer lifespans (all things else being equal) with very mild caloric scarcity.

I've been IF for awhile now and have found the longer I do it the longer I was able to go between meals. I've tried eating one main meal around 2-3 and I've tried eating my one meal around 5-6. Many say that stopping eating earlier benefits more but I found it hard not to snack in the evening when I ate earlier. Recently I've been eating 2 smaller meals, noonish and early evening, still having about 18 hours fasting. Are you still eating low carb?

No I'm not doing low-carb the way I did it 6 years ago and lost weight. I did have a boot camp I attended 2-3 times a week and I lost quickly, I didn't think that the low carb would be sustainable. Now I'm watching carbs and calories. Limit of 1400 calories a day and about 50 carbs. I'm very happy the scale showed a 3 lb loss this morning.

Every day I have breakfast by 8 and a small protein snack by 3, at the latest, so I'm a 17/7 IF'r
