Been playing it fast and loose for a few days. Didn't fast last week. Ate chips. Ate a sandwich.
OK enough of that. Time to get serious again.
On the plus side I walked a 5K which is the first time I ever walked 3 miles. It was hilarious b/c we were the only 2 walking (30 min mile pace) and by the time we got back they were getting ready to take down the finish line. I said they better not take that down before I get there!!
So I couldn't figure out why my blood sugar was increasing. Only thing I could look at were the new supplements I added - niacin, krill oil, evening primrose oil. From my research, niacin seems to be the culprit. It was ok at 500 and seemed ok at 1000 but then 1500 pushed it up. That is the amount that is recommended for high cholesterol.
So I am stopping it for now. The krill oil is supposed to help with cholesterol so I hope that is enough.

My DH takes niacin for cholesterol and has some blood sugar issues, I will relay this info on to him. Thanks!

Yeah my blood sugar jumped from 108-120 range to 140-170 range. I was really surprised so I googled "niacin raises blood sugar" and found references to this from what seemed to be reputable sites. One other thing that was noted was negative effect on the liver, so to make sure you have a doctor monitoring liver enzymes. So since I was doing this on my own I decided to stop.
