Hermiones Mom's Journal, 30 November 2016

I spent the whole damn day yesterday hungry. Really. I do not know what the heck was wrong with me -- and I really worked at not eating anything I would be sorry for. But until I finally had a glass of milk and a Luna bar before bed, I was hungry. So today I at my Luna Bar and milk for my mid-morning snack. I feel much better. I have no idea what this is about.

I have days like that sometimes and other days when I forget to eat. Don't understand either one!

Maybe it's the time of year? I ate plenty of calories yesterday but very low carb and woke up feeling a bit 'hangry' this morning myself. So, I decided to eat the low glycemic bran muffin that I found in my freezer around 10 am. I made these last year. LOL! Had my low carb eggs and bacon and tomato slices at 1 pm.

I have episodes like that too. Oatmeal helps. High fiber foods can help, but the best thing I have found are low calorie freeze dried vegetables (with no added fats). Obviously not peas or corn. I found some lightly salted and seasoned freeze dried okra. Delicious, and I hate stewed okra. But this was awesome. 3.5 oz freeze dried is supposedly two pounds of raw okra. I ate that and felt full for 36 hours. I am going back for more. I ordered freeze dried green beans and freeze dried broccoli but watch out for the versions with added fats

I'm going to check out the freeze dried veggies. Marcus Welby -- can you give me the brand for the ones without fat? I know I was very disappointed when I read the nutrition panel on some of the veggie snacks now on the market -- way too many calories... So I munch on raw carrots...

Mom2B's -- I think you might be on to something. I came back from FLorida to find we were into early winter, and I've been freezing ever since. Yesterday I did two 20-minute cold weather walks with the dogs and took Carson to agility class, and I was hungry the whole day. Maybe my body has to work harder now to keep warm!

Forgot about drinking big cups of green tea. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks bethinkfriend. Good idea.
