bradleigh07's Journal, 21 November 2016

So my weekend consisted of going shopping and getting the things I needed for Thanksgiving. It sucks having to get all the stuff for everybody and knowing you can't go hog-wild and eat all of it. I bought the stuff for Turkey, and my stuffing and mashed potatoes....CARBS! And of course all the stuff to make pies, and cheesecake. It's torture. I broke down and ate cool whip yesterday and totally feeling the after effects. I can give up a lot of things: alcohol, cigarettes, hell, even sex. lol. But FOOD! ARGH!

My starting weight in September was 268...I am now at 249. I wanted to be 30 lbs down by this time, and I've had a few minor set backs. I have got to get into gear. I am going to end up insulin dependent if I can't get some self control and tell myself NO! I have cut out all sugary drinks, my drinks consist of unsweet tea, with sweet n low. And water. No cokes. No SWEET TEA. And I have lowered my intake on noodles, and rice. I eat an occasional biscuit or roll. But I made many changes in my diet, it's just not good enough. And I really need to get my ass out there and run. It's just cold, and I don't like running in the cold. I always seem to get sick afterwards.

No more excuses. Get your ass into gear. BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

I'm going to go hog-wild on MY low-carb, sugar-free goodies I'm taking thru the woods to Grandma's house! They may make all that BAD stuff, but we are going to be just fine!

I need to get some easy sugar free recipes, so if you have any awesome recipes from sugar free goodies, float them my way! :)

OMG! Sweet n Low?! It's poison! Please consider changing to stevia. It also helps with blood sugar, as does cinnamon. CONGRATS on the weight you've taken off! Be grateful! Feel supported! Know that all the crap food and drinks are not going away and you can have them anytime, but CHOOSE Health! It gives you your power back over the crap! Best to you!

I've heard the negative sides of sweet n low, and I did try Truvia I believe. And it would never dissolve. It tasted like Vanilla, which was weird. I know there's other options, I can give stevia a try!

Okay, I was looking over your post and giggled when you mentioned what you are willing to give up. It made me think of an article I stumbled across the other day about a lady who lost 90 pounds by replacing her boredom eating with an orgasm whenever she had cravings. Not only did she still enjoy the release of happy chemicals in her brain, but she burned calories instead of consuming them. Just throwing that out there. Lol.

My daughter became a vegetarian so we have to get creative about what to have for Thanksgiving - it is ok to substitute out high-calorie food for low-calorie food. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you, I figured I'll tear up the turkey and sweet potato and green bean casserole, and avoid mashed potatoes, and other carbs.

We use Truvia baking blend(white) and Splenda baking blend(brown). Not as good as stevia but it has been working for me and Angie! Try this, it was a big hit at the office and church! Since this post talks about sex, here is a winner! http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2015/09/low-carb-chocolate-pumpkin-sex-in-a-pan-dessert.html 8.55 carbs https://theprimitivepalate.com/2015/01/20/everything-bagel-dogs/ 5.63 carbs surf those sites! If I can figure out how to send .pdfs and .docs, I have GIGS worth of recipes since we started 10 months ago! We make some kind of treat on weekends so that we can keep our sanity! So far, so good! 98.1 lbs down since Feb 8th!

we are also going to do a daikon mash with cream cheese. Angie made it last week with fried steaks(pork rinds and parmesan) and It was heaven! Since we found Super Cao Asian market, it is all good! Some of the weirdest veggies you've ever seen! And they sell live fish in giant tanks! Just a cool market to go to! I used to always do broccoli cheese rice casserole, but now being LCHF, I did a cauliflower broccoli cheese casserole instead. Was great! Haven't missed rice yet! But, we also made stir-fry this weekend and cut up bean sprouts to simulate the rice! Just awesome!

Holidays are tough (a statement of the obvious). So good of people above to have made all those good suggestions. Hope that all works out, and that you get through the holidays without berating yourself. I know it is possible for me to enjoy a few things - I make the choices to enjoy what I want most, and focus on having those things and the pleasure I got from them. It does help if one is not having family and friends say "Help yourself to more" or "it's the holidays - don't worry about it. I just make sure that I tell friends and family that my choice is to enjoy the amount I've taken, and to focus on eating reasonable portions as well as to know it is okay to stop when I am no longer hungry. Usually, most folks will respect that and stop with the enabling behavior of encouraging one to eat more then they should.

yea, the pressure from family and friends, I had a FM just have a absolute fit because we would not try something. So we did(shocking) and Angie had some sore ass hands the next day. (We have figured out that the gluten is making her arthritis ache, so that's a no!) We have cut out gluten, grain, sugar, pasta, rice, beans, any of that BAD stuff!

B, have no doubts, YOU GOT THIS! You're down 19, that's GREAT! Just keep doing what you're doing. Try to be a little extra conservative this week leading up to all the great food. Then, eat a protein bar or shake before you go to eat lunch/dinner. You will put a lot less on your plate when you're already "full".

basic rule of thumb....If it's WHITE it's not right....!!!...also, sweet n low is worse than sugar...switch to Organic Stevia if you can....

I found out I was diabetic, and I have read that there are certain beans you have to be very careful of. And with people who can't have gluten, beans, from what I've heard, can be upsetting. I know green beans, broccoli, anything green is good for you. We all have things we have to be careful of.
