Started 36 hour fast last night at 6 PM. It will be 24 hours today and 6 am tomorrow I can eat breakfast. I thought it was 12 PM but I counted wrong. So that's really not too bad b/c I was already doing a 24 hour fast anyway and the other 12 hours are when you are sleeping. I made chicken broth yesterday so I am all set with 3 containers for Mon, Wed, Fri. I have chicken and salad for Tue, Thur.

I am going to my parents for the week of thanksgiving. I need to bring my stock pot so I can make another set of broth for next week. I may make another set of broth at home this week and freeze it for the week after that. It's all in the planning! Next week I will not be doing my normal Monday Wed Fri workout so I need to do extra walking.

So today's plan is tea with no artificial sweetener, water, and broth. I worked out this morning. I really would like to take a walk at lunch. Saturday I walked a little over a mile and Sunday I walked about 2 miles. That was still hard for me. I signed up for a 3.l mile walk on Dec 3 so I need to keep walking so that I can make it.

I am doing the fasting to improve my insulin resistance, not to lose weight. Weight loss will be a bonus.

My exciting news is that I made a big goal for April - I want to lose my other 50 pounds by April 7 so that gives me 100 pounds lost. I plan to celebrate by going to Las Vegas with my daughter over her Easter break. Hiking, shows, gambling, swimming - I think it will be an awesome reward. I haven't been on a plane in years and years because of my weight. So I think at 234 I will be able to finally fit! I think it will be hard to make it but it's worth trying. It will give me some incentive to stay away from those potato chips!

Have a great day everyone!

I fast as well for the insulin resistance. (I do the 16:8, not sure I could make it 36 hrs, maybe will try it down the road) It does help for sure. You are doing great Shelly!

You can do the April loss. Just keep consistent, it has worked so far. You can do this. Vegas sounds great.

Also - I forgot to comment on the 5k walk. When I started getting healthy (August 2014), the goal of the 5k was a real motivation. It turned out that I really enjoy these events. The people are great, the atmosphere is fun. Bring a dog, boyfriend, buddy, etc - it is even more fun with a group. The best part (at least from what I found), is that I encountered nothing but support for my level of fitness. Lots of encouragement along the way. There has always been someone willing to go at my pace and keep me company. The only drawback is they can be expensive. Do the 5k!!

Fifty pounds is about what I hope to achieve by April. We were supposed to go on a cruise and my long term goal was to be fit enough to participate in excursions. The cruise is "iffy" b/c kids are buying a house. My goal is locked in concrete. Let's do this together. 🤔

Hi Matt! Thanks, I am going to try it! @Sarah - Sounds good Sarah! You need a plan B reward if that doesn't go through just so you will feel rewarded and motivated! Yes, I am all in too!

The worst part of this fasting day is no Diet Coke and not artificial sweeteners. Man I am addicted to that stuff. I don't drink coffee. I drink tea but I don't much care for it without the Swerve. Yeah, I'm just complaining. :) :) :)

Keep at it Shelly, it sounds like you know your stuff. I found that keeping a small amount of fiber like almonds, walnuts, and shelled sunflower seeds kept me from getting too hungry, was nutritious, and it keeps your metabolism going. If you need any information about Las Vegas, just ask. I know this place like the back of my hand. The new, smaller, light weight bags are good for plane travel, as weight is always important. I'm sure they have shuttles from the airport, which is very close. It is nice to be near the Strip, so you can walk a lot. That is what everybody does. Also, try and stay off all cokes, if possible. Stevia is the only good sweetener, and it tastes kind of weird. Good luck!

By the way, I purchased "The Cruise Control Diet" by James Ward. It cost about $150, but I am glad I did. It is about the lifestyle change, and insulin control. I think it is excellent and includes books on diet, recipes, and a newer approach to diet. I love it!

It took me a while, but I've really learned to love tea with no sweetener. I live in the land of sweet tea.....in fact, when you order iced tea, you have to specify, "unsweet"! There are so many subtle flavors in different teas, it's fun to explore.

That sounds really great! I'm not a big walker but I still push myself to park further away and walk to community mailbox not drive, etc. I have been on a plane at my heaviest weight which was 371lbs and I squished myself into the window seat and still felt like I was way too close to the stranger sitting next to me. He at first was annoyed but ended up being very nice to talk to. I think he thought about how I must of felt and then started talking to me. But I have not flown since then. I hope your week goes well!
