Happy Monday, my Best Buddies!
Oh my! How long should I be on my new Macros to decide if it helps?
So far, I am uncomfortable eating all the carbs and miss my fats. I feel bloated (oatmeal and rice) and the Idiot Boxes were UP nearly five pounds this morning although I am eating fewer calories. It has only been three days...People scream calories in - calories out; but I have long thought some of us are carb sensitive...and maybe grain sensitive. I have been grain and dairy free for almost two years!
ADDENDUM: Yes! After talking to my bodybuilder trainer and listening to her good suggestions, I have decided to drop the grains and adjust the macros to 40%protein, 35% fats and 25% carbs - just eat extra fruit and veggies which is going back to my more Primal/Paleo approach. I am gonna figure this out!

HCB you are amazing!!!! Once I get through the clean up week at work, I need to clean up my diet, I did buy some healthier stir fry dinners and a new deep dish frying pan to cook things properly. Have a super Monday :)

Remember that adding carbs back restores the glycogen stores in your muscles, which can add around 5 lbs of water weight

Thanks notelaine! I do know that, and I guess it feels like the panic button because of the icky bloated feeling. My husband says I need to give it time to adjust...lifting weight to increase lean body mass needs the proteins and carbs for energy...I intellectually get it...just wonder if my body can handle it
|
lol, no, I totally understand the feeling. Seeing the scale go up for any reason is alarming. I freaked when I started using creatine and it added 4 lbs of water weight on. One thing that I've found that helps with the bloated feeling is adding potato starch to my post-workout protein shake. It takes about a week to adjust (kinda makes it worse before getting better) but it supposedly helps the good bacteria in the gut stay in balance.

You will figure it out but you might be onto something with the thought of grain sinisitive the only grain I can eat is rice and only small amounts of it without stomach problems. I haven't retried oatmeal since leaving grains off.

Maybe you can't handle oatmeal & rice (I don't even eat these), so why not just stick to fruit & veggies? These are even better because they're not processed at all.

@ SSS: Yes. I agree! After I thought it through, I realized there was a reason I dropped dairy and grains two years ago!

No worries HCB, a little experimenting while monitoring results is never a bad thing. Hope you find a nice combo that works!

HCB, I think I piped in with this before: Looking at your diary you are not dairy free. Vitasport Pro7ein contains casein, brie cheese and butter are also dairy. I suffered with painful bloating for years til I cut all dairy out. And I mean everything. Now I even have to check the wine labels because some companies use use a dairy protein to clear their wines. Really I say. I know it might sound like a chore but I think you should try it for a week and see how you feel!?

Does it to me too. I had to cut the dairy too

Good luck buddy with figuring out how you should eat. Your body will let you know!

@thanks schmetterinlinge34: I remember your earlier ideas. I agree about the whey protein but it doesn't bother me. Cheese is once in the while ... not making an excuse about your suggestion - just know what bothers me what doesn't it. Cheese bothers me so I generally avoid it. Butter does not bother me...but I am reducing the fats now.
