Kimberly Dawn 65's Journal, 20 October 2016

Well today was the one year anniversary of my dad losing his battle with cancer. I took a vacation today and spent the whole day shopping with my mom. I treated her to lunch. I over ate "bad me" so I stuck to mainly proteins for supper. Some days it feels like he has been gone for so long and other days it seems like the last year went by fast. I know it was not an easy year from my mom. She had a severe stroke just a few weeks after he passed away. I am thankful she received the prompt medical attention and with the help of a rehab facility has recovered almost 100%. She is even interested in dating to have companionship. Of course, I support her all the way. I told her no one should spend their life alone. They were married almost 53 years. It will be 30 years for me and the hubby April 4, 2017. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost him (most days) and then there are days I wonder how we have put up with each other 32 years. LOL It was a walk down memory lane today. We laughed while sharing good memories of dad and both of us teared up a couple of times. I love spending time with her. She is such a hoot. Have a good night all and happy weight loss to all!

So true. I am glad I still have her. It was me and mom that held his hands for hours until the end. At one point he raised our hands and said "I have both of my girls with me". Sniff sniff.
