Happy New Week, my Best Buddies!
Yikes! The Idiot Boxes spiked up this morning - I may be gaining a slight amount of muscle because I am going heavier at the gym and doing a little more HIIT, but I am sure most is likely fat!

I have been doing a more Primal approach with the addition of a very small sweet potato, berries and nuts...but it is all about calories, too. I am cutting myself back again to 1300 daily to see if I can get movement! Feeling discouraged but realize I must be eating too much right now...

#Burn the fat, Feed the muscle

Short Range Goals:
* Maintain the "cut" to return to goal weight on Idiot Boxes by Nov 16 endocrinologist appointment
* Complete HELL WEEK at gym Oct 25-31 attend five classes and get a shirt
* Drink at least 14 - 16 cups of fresh water daily - especially on gym days
* Continue HIIT mixed in with weight lifting four to five days
* Keep up the training notebook to achieve progressive overload
Long Range Goals: 2016-2017
*Bodyfat at 20% (Current 23.75%)
*Maintain Idiot Boxes around 152-156lbs staying under goal weight
*Increased strength, endurance and flexibility during workouts

1300 is quite a lot of calories when you're short in stature. Honestly, I'd back it down to less than 1000. Stinks, but factoring in age & height, you're looking at around 1100/day in maintenance if you'd like to be a reasonable weight of say, 130. It would definitely explain why you're stuck at 160 lbs.

If your lifting heavier it's probably some muscle and maybe a little fat but remember you don't want to cut the calories too much or when exercising your body will take what it needs from those wonderful muscles you've worked so hard for. Of course this comes from someone whose still simply trying to get under control again.

I have no idea how you navigate your weight loss concurrent with building muscle. I woukd love to be a fly on the wall when you talk to your trainer. In your shoes, I think I would invest in one of those scales that measure water and lean mass (if they actually work - I have no idea).

Thanks - I agree Addie; I need no lower that 1300 calories due to my weightlifting routine. At Lady - I regularly have my bodyfat measured by my trainer - that is more important to me than scale weight. In fact, I do have one of those fancy scales but they are not super accurate for bodyfat%. I prefer the calipers.

Not ignoring your dilemma...just don't have a viable suggestion st the moment. Want you to know that I am in your corner as always....

Perhaps the better question to ask is "What size dress & jeans would you like to wear?" Many bodybuilders have large muscles and low bodyfat, but unfortunately they look about as wide as they are tall (like trolls - and not the internet kind).

Speaking of bodybuilders, Ernestine Shepherd just turned 80 💪

Ernestine rocks and says, "Age is just a number!"

Quote from Ernestine Shepherd: "There is no shortcut to having a healthy body. You need to be careful about what you eat too. No junk meals, only natural food and good things, like oatmeal and tuna. I aim to eat 1,500 calories a day, including three glasses of egg whites. I’m 5ft 5in tall and weigh 116lbs so my body fat ratio is 9 per cent. I have such an appetite for life that not eating sweet things is a small price to pay."
