I miss bread, being on this low carb diet. I found a recipe for Soul Bread on line, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a bunch of stuff from amazon. Yesterday I had off from work, so I baked a batch and I have to say it was pretty bad. I did forget to put the small amount of stevia in the batter (it was optional), but I doubt that would have made much difference. I love real bread so I thought even if this is like wonder bread, I can put enough butter on it to make it palatable. Conclusion: there ain't enough lipstick in the world to dress this pig up. It definately is filling, since it is chock full of over 200 calories of fat and protein in a slice (1/16th of a loaf). I added it to my cook book so I could account for the calories I consumed and put a warning in the discription: "not recommended."

So I have a question. Can anyone recommend a decent low carb bread or tortilla or cracker?

I haven't tried this since I don't have room for the calories lol but it has some good reviews. http://www.iherb.com/Bob-s-Red-Mill-Low-Carb-Bread-Mix-16-oz-453-g/35691?gclid=CLDr9Mac_c8CFUMkhgodi24GQw

Draglist has a reasonable low carb "bread" recipe using almond flour, eggs, etc. Tastes good, more like a loaf than bread, but certainly can be used as a bread replacement. I think that the recipe is posted in a journal entry. Have a good one!!

ThinSlim Foods makes the best low carb breads, buns and bagels I've found. They have only 1-2 grams of carb per serving. The texture still isn't the best, but they aren't half bad if you toast them. You can get them from Netrition.com. There are several brands of low carb tortillas/wraps available in local grocery stores. The Mission brand are the most like regular flour tortillas, and come in at 6 net carbs. I think it's OLE Foods that has tortillas that are super high in fiber, and have 5 net carbs. They are more like the thin sandwich wraps. I hope you find something that fills the void!

Thank you for the review. I've seen this recipe and the GLOWING reviews but hadn't tried it. I've not found a lc bread that is like soft yummy reg bread. I DO eat bread from the Great Low Carb Bread Factory. It is kinda chewy and a bit dry on it's own but definitely more like bread than any recipes I've tried. I use the Mission Carb Balance whole wheat tortillas and really like them. I eat "whisps" which are a cracker made of cheese and I really like them. Best price I've found for them is at Costco.

Just read this on one of my fb groups....Has anyone else tried Smart Buns from Smart Baking Company? I found them at netrition. They are pricey, but if you miss hamburger buns they are worth it. Each bun is 72 calories, 4 net grams,{ carbs minus fiber} and the remaining 4 grams are sugar alcohol. I had a cheeseburger for dinner this evening and it was fantastic. Honestly, these are the best tasting low carb bread product that I have found.

i like mssion low carb wheat tortillas. I toast em and make "chips" for salads and things. Julians make a decent low bread and if you have a Whole Foods in you area they have some really good and HUGE low carb wraps with names like "everything" after the bagel. I madea zuchinni bread once.. spongy AF but it was gone in like 5 min .. LOL every loved it.

It's all in what you get used to. I make my own bread/biscuits with coconut flour. Lovely recipes online. Have an amazing day! 🌞
