Hello strangers :) Long time no see.

All has been well here. I'm still trying to find the perfect nursing job for me. The facility I originally started at was not for me at all. They were very disorganized, under new ownership and mandating to the point where people were working 20+ hours per day. Not for me. I have an interview at a pediatric office tomorrow so we will see how that goes.

I need to get back to eating right and working out. All this stress has got me in a funk. I want to start calorie counting again but I'm in a bit of a pickle...

I'm pregnant! Husband and I are very excited. Due April 7th, which is two days after my own birthday.

I know a pregnant woman only needs about 300 extra calories per day, but my dilemma is that I never figured out what my maintenance calorie limit was. I've always been either an active loser or an active gainer. There was no in between lol. I am a woman of extremes. What I would like to do now is find some balance. I'm sure I could stand to lose some of the pounds I've packed on, and could probably do so in a healthy way. I really don't want to continue to gain through the pregnancy.

Any tips or tricks from my fellow FS ladies who have survived pregnancy while watching the scale. I'm tired of watching it go up!!

Hope to be in touch a lot more than I have been the last couple months. Much love FS buddies!

I recommend that you talk to your doctor and possibly a nutritionist. Losing weight involves deprivation - definitely not something you want during a pregnancy. But I'm sure they can guide you about how much to eat, in order to not gain too much. I was always very hungry during my three pregnancies! Save the actual dieting until after the baby and nursing are over. Priorities will be different from here until then. Congratulations! How very wonderful!

Congratulations on the pregnancy. I agree, talk to your OB/GYN. That are the experts regarding weight loss and calories while pregnant.

Congratulations!! I was GDM with all 3 of mine and have had the counsel of a nutritionist for them all as well. This proved very helpful. While you wont have the restrictions that I had you could certainly benefit from the help of a nutritionist. Some tips that were helpful were to have breakfast= 1 protein & 1 starch, snack=apple slices w/peanut butter, lunch=2 oz. of protein 1 veg. 1 starch 1=dairy, snack=nuts & yogurt, and dinner= 3oz. of protein 2 veg. 1 starch 1 dairy and last snack= corn tortilla quesadilla and 8 oz. of milk. This sounds very strict so modify it as you would like. Overall you will feel well fed and not lacking in anything on this size diet. Plus if you add the exercise maybe every 3 days walking and 1 once a week pregnancy pilaties. You will feel strong and healthy. Wish you all the best and a healthy baby!!! :)

I had a friend who consulted a nutritionist during her pregnancy and she only gained 10lbs during her pregnancy, and delivered a healthy baby. Contrary to the old tale, a pregnant woman should not eat for two. A nutritionist will give you an eating plan that will be comprised of the correct amount of macronutrients necessary to deliver a healthy baby without gaining a ton of weight. Following her delivery she breastfed her baby, and that was also instrumental in her regaining her waistline. Congratulations and best wishes!

Congrats! Oh and how about a nursing position in a school perhaps? Should be a better schedule.

Congratulations! I guess you have a log here of food that you've eaten, calories output, and weight lost or gained, so you might be able to do some calculations? They say you need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose a pound, or a surplus of a similar amount to gain a pound. That should give you some idea! It does depend on how active you are, though, as well as intake. Good luck with everything 😀
