DameMcMame's Journal, 02 September 2016

I am up another pound today. So, in the past 4 days, I've regained, 2.4 lbs, 2 lbs in the the last 2 days. I am drinking lots of water and sticking to 16:8 IF. I increased my salt intake hoping it would help my body...

I woke up starving this morning, so I just let myself have egg salad. Maybe my body is telling me IF isn't for me? I can't figure out what's going on.

I can't make up mind on fasting. From everything I've read, it seems so good for us. I want to do 24 hour fasts, at least once a week on the weekends. Advice? Am I freaking out prematurely?

Talk me down guys!

I'm not an expert in IF, i used to do it for a while a few years back. from what i read, you can choose your "eating window" as long as its consistant and you stick to your calories. honestly the 16:8 window seems the most effective and easier to stick too, however i did do the 20:4 IF at times and it wasn't as bad as a full 24 hour fast. maybe alternate to switch things up for your body? sorry if this doesnt help lol

My philosophy is "Listen to your body". Eat to hunger, drink to thirst. I know a lot of people push drinking tons of water, but since keto is naturally diuretic, you can flush electrolytes out with all that water. Same thing with longer fasting, only more so! If you're hungry, eat..but not until you're stuffed...just until you're not hungry any more. Some days it'll be 16:8, some it'll be 18:6, some days it'll be longer. Follow your body's rhythm, not the clock. I suspect you're retaining a lot of that water you've been drinking, because you haven't been eating 7000 calories a day, which is how much excess you'd have to eat to gain a pound of fat.

It's a journey that involves experimentation and learning by doing. Keep track of what's working and chuck the rest.
