Good to be back after a happy three days in Seattle with daughter (25) and youngest son (17). Had a blast. Also got to experiment walking longer distances and reached my max at 6+ miles, admittedly in pain. Thankfully right hip flexor was back to almost normal the following day.

Top attraction? Barnes & Noble. Actually its lower level reminds me of a bookstore at a university campus. Nothing fancy, but quite simply it is laid out incredibly well, every book table a feast. Easily could have spent an entire day in there. Second fave place unabashedly remains Nordstrom Rack. Lol had to go back a second time the second day. Amazingly always find great shoes not available in Vancouver, and at even better prices. It is one of life's baffling mysteries. Lastly and decidedly, the third pick: oddly shaped little triangular Starbucks at Pioneer Square. Love love love that spot.:)

Have to admit, for this West Coast Canadian, Seattle is still my happy place. Remember going down there for very special and rare shopping excursions with my mom and sister throughout my childhood. Then many years later, getting my wedding dress at Frederick and Nelson's, and 18 years after that, my daughter's grad prom dress. Well Frederick's is no longer there, and this was my first time back since Mom passed away. It moved me how strongly I felt her presence in a place geographically 2.5 hours away. Bless Seattle. :)

Now here's the not-so-great thing.... This morning at 3 am, my second son (22) headed out for his co-op work experience at the Nexus offices in Calgary, Alberta--603 miles away, two mountain ranges in between. Excited for him of course, but missing him too much already. :-P It is the beautiful testament of a person so incredibly wonderful that an 8 month absence seems like an eternity. Only God can walk us through this type of terrain. And this too shall pass. For starters, work is fast approaching and will be insanely busy until June. :-P Bring it on!

Your trip sounds fabulous and oh so relaxing! What fun! Our girls both live 1500+ miles away so I thoroughly understand the pangs of long distance. We are so proud of their independency and yet often long to hear their giggling voices coming from the next room. God has blessed us with these fine young women so I share in your thoughts. Have a blessed day and take a few more minutes to bask in your memories.

I always have a few tears and moments of sadness when my grown children drive away, back to their unfolding lives. I would never hold them back: couldn't, but it's always sad for this mom.
