Pretty Mama Lopez's Journal, 25 August 2016

Summer's been an absolute mess and it's time for me to get my act together. A couple of friends suggested I try a keto diet and I figured, why not. So second day in and I'm going through carb withdrawals complete with headaches. Hopefully, I'll get through this transition period soon enough. I am surprised at my lack of hunger.

Add more salt. The headaches are from the withdrawal from glucose and flushing water. Salt will help. I like the Knorr Caldo de Pollo with a little butter in it.

It takes about a week for your body to adjust to no carbs. It WILL get better, the Keto flu usually only lasts a few days. 9 days in and I feel A LOT better already.

Keto flu - that certainly describes how I'm feeling. I need to read up a bit more on this. Meanwhile, I'm going to try the additional salt idea. Many thanks for all the positive feedback and wonderful support!

Keep in mind, carbs are what give you energy. Keeping a balance between carbs, fat, and protein and incorporating resistance training 3 days a week and cardio training twice a week may give you better results than a strict keto diet.
