Magdalena003's Journal, 21 August 2016

I have recently begun to eat better and add exercise again. I started at the beginning of this month at 178 lbs and weighed in at 164 this morning. I lost about 10lbs in the first week and I'm told that it's normal when you start eating all whole foods and ditch beer, and processed junk. My carbohydrate intake is very low and only comes from vegetables and every now and again a handful of berries. After the first week, I'm down about 2lbs a week. Which I am much more comfortable with. A 10lb drop in the first week was a little scary for me, as I know that rapid of a loss is unhealthy for someone at my age, sex, height, and weight. I'll be using fatsecret to log future meals so that I can better plan them. I also use a fitbit, but when I log future meals there, it throws off my progress for the day. Using both will allow me to better anticipate what my intake will be and how many calories I can aim to burn that day. I am currently at a 1,000 calorie daily deficit with a minimum of 1,200 calorie intake. I'm finding it a bit difficult to maintain those numbers on a LCHF diet, but since I've only been working with those numbers for about a week - I think allowing myself more time to get the hang of it is reasonable.
164.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 34.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

The 10 pounds was mostly water weight. When you eat a lot of carbs, your cells take in water. When you eat lower carb/high protein, it pushes water out of our cells. That's why when you go off plan and eat more carbs, you tend to gain the water weight back more easily. So you have to add them in slowly after your done with weight loss. Looks like you are doing great.
