LadyinDenim's Journal, 14 July 2016

There's a huge facebook group called, "Fung Shweigh." There was a thread where fasting people were sharing their experiences, and this one woman added a comment. She very humbly stated what her therapeutic fasting regimen was. Someone else asked her for details, and she went on, describing how her results with 36 hour fasting stalled, so she went to fasts that lasted anywhere from 3 to 5 days. Her A1Cs and BPs have improved.

I decided to alter my plan. Now, I will fast for three consecutive days a week. Once a month, I will fast five consecutive days.

I will plan the fasts based on my calendar of activities, and since my week goes from Sunday to Saturday, I will need to start the first three day fast today.

I probably will NOT fast during my family vacation next month.

I've starting eating every other day, I don't know about losing weight, but I FEEL better when I'm on a fast day.

@schase02, it does seem that way, but fasting is good for us. @phil, I was losing weight by eating every other day, but it did not compare to the results I got from the 5 day. I feel good on fasting days, too. Alert, calm, energetic. I am so curious to see what you work out for maintenance.

Schase, I would like you to explain that, if you can.

I wish I could get to the experiences somehow other than using Facebook. I'm looking into fasting, after figuring out that that's basically what I've been doing this go round, and had great success. I've got to figure out exactly what fast regimen will work, but usually it's not so much extreme fasting as during week days, I only eat about 400 calories and on non fast days, weekends off with my hubby... I eat around 1000-1400. Does anyone else do anything like that, and have you avoided regain?

Lady, I've been thinking about that for a few months. Mahjohn has been one of my biggest inspirations, he does LCHF six days a week and takes one day a week for a carb load (that might not be what he calls it). My current strategy is to mimic what he's doing, only on a monthly basis. I'm thinking instead of LCHF six days a week, LCHF every other day with fasting days thrown between. Still experimenting, and I've thrown in some weight lifting, insufficient data at this point to make any conclusions.

Ok, Schase, I will read your article, might take me a few minutes. In the meantime you need to look up Dr. Jason Fung on youtube.

Oh, this is a gem, "Ultimately, the effects of abstaining from food vary largely based on the individual who is fasting." Basically the author is saying, "well, you know, I like to eat and all so fasting is hard and I don't like it so I'm going to talk trash about it, but really, there's nothing wrong with it other than the fact that it's hard." Yeah.

@Lady, should I pick Schase's article apart point-by-point (it wouldn't require much effort), or just him slink away, obviously uninformed with no apparent desire to learn. @Schase "the body will adapt and keep what it can", sounds an awful lot like Unicorns. "Starvation Mode" is a myth, unless you're trapped out in the wilderness actually starving, that is to say, unless you have a single digit percentage of body fat.

@shaylen, you are welcome to look at my weight history. Was fasting even days only starting June 16. June 30 was a carb binge 😶, July 4 thru 8 were fasting. July 10 was fasting. I kept it off, but there have been fluctuations. Like today, but am not worried. I just need to 💩😶

Let it go, Phil. We will agree to disagree.

Schase, would you be so kind as to edit the profanity out of your post, please? Thank you ☺

Whoops. Sorry. I guess you can't. I am just going to delete that one. No hard feelings ☺

Fine, letting it go. :P lol

I disagree. I will not permit abusive language to remain in my journal. I will prefer that you refrain from commenting here. I am deleting all of your comments as they are neither inquisitive nor interested. Please refrain from commenting further.

Why did I know it was just a matter of time before Oxenfree came into play in one your user names, my old nemesis? I agree with the bulk of what you just posted, interesting parallel to a conversation I had with my mother yesterday, we were speaking of my great grandparents, her grandparents, of course, and it was pretty much point and tack with what you're saying, nix on the processed and store-bought foods, eat rarely and little, drink water. Imagine, my Maw Bessie lived to see 98, probably would have lived longer if it twern't fer the snuff.

did you report the abuse so that it can get managed by the FS site? He can just make a new one but a record can help them keep record. LiD, happy that you are finding support and more direction for your planning.

He just had to slink back and get a "last word" in. Deleted. It is a waste of time to permit arguing in the comments. Nothing is gained or learned.

Phil, you have nothing to apologize for. When people are too lazy to consider the message, they attack the messenger. JJohnso, he wasn't that bad, just rude. It's done.

Today, to fast or not today, I haven't made up my mind. I ate a little cabbage yesterday, not a whole terrible lot, and a few cherry tomatoes. I'm feeling a little peckish, but not just ravenous. Haven't decided.

That's it, right there. Fasting or eating? If fasting, ride out the hunger. If eating, eat until satisfied. What was yesterday like: did you only want that little bit of salad, or were you really hungry for more?
