flaxseed's Journal, 19 November 2009

Just a quick update. Ollie is home. His back legs just won't do what he wants. Had problems getting him in the car and out again this end. Chap next door but one came to our rescue and carried him up the steps to the house. Ollie was a dead weight and he's not a small dog so Paul had to put him down just inside the lounge door and he just lay where he put him. Have managed to get him onto a blanket and he's spark out now. The vet isn't too worried about his liver but he will have to have some treatment. He will see us again on Saturday to make sure everything is going on OK and will tell us about the treatment then. His operaion went fine and nothing that they took away was suspect in any way.

I know what you mean about the flu jab Moose but I think they are giving it me because I'm diabetic and because I'm a carer for someone who's had chemo. I don't really want it but I'd never forgive myself if I got flu and gave it OH.

I've been desperately trying to keep my eating under control and I'm quite pleased that all I've picked at is a bag of frozen strawberries - quite a lot of them - a whole 2lb bag in fact!

He weighs about 20 kg but the difficulty was that we couldn't find anywhere to hold him as he has two wounds on his rear end and one on his flank and a bandaged front paw.

Poor Ollie! I'm sending healing thoughts his way and a few extra head rubs for Ollie and ((((((hugs))))) for you. Your strawberry snack sounds yummy and healthy.

Awwww poor baby. I can relate as my old lady dog had a 4 lb tumor removed earlier this year and I just took my old lady cat to the vet yesterday because she has an abscess with fever and pain. We love our babies and hate to see them in distress! Strawberries are so good for you! I don't think you can have too many. Hope Ollie gets better soon.

Flaxseed - thanks for the update. I was thinking about Ollie and OH and hoping both were doing well!! Sounds like he may be okay ... just needs some recovery time. I hope for OH's sake he is okay ... well and yours too actually!! Take care and good job at keeping your snacking to a bag of frozen strawberries!!! That is stupendous!!! Be good to yourself my friend!

Healing thoughts coming Ollie's way. It is so hard when they have health problems. He needs time to recuperate. Good for you for taking such good care of your little friend. Please give him a belly rub for me. :-)
