Kathy Vanish's Journal, 09 March 2016

I am struggling a bit this month. I know I should exercise but there are so many things to do since spring is going to early. I want to run on the road and go for walks, but I live on a muddy dirt road covered in horse crap. I feel stupid driving my car somewhere to part to just take a walk when I live in a rural area. I am also fed up with logging everything I eat. Its so time consuming and half the things I make are not on the list and then I have to list all of the ingredients. So, what's the point.

I have made it to my zumba class at least once a week for the last month, but now am getting bored with the routine and want the workout to move at a faster pace, but 75% of the class are at least 20 years my senior so we have to wait on them. My friend teaches the class so I don't want to rob her of her second income, but am not sure it's worth my 5 dollars anymore.

O what to do! Well, I am hoping to get a run in on the treadmill today, but first I need to paint my artic entrance and vacuum my house. So I best get started.

Have a good one everyone!

I could say it's mind over matter but right now I think your mind is an enemy take a deep breath and remember to try to tackle it one day at a time and you'll feel better about things soon I hope. We all go threw the what's the use feelings at times.

Always do your best. Your best is going to vary from day to day, but all you can do is the best you can do. That's coming from the girl who ate a jumbo cinnamon roll this morning. So yes, I am occasionally full of that stuff on your dirt road, horse crap. As for logging all the ingredients, I am so right there with you. Sometimes I find a store bought item that is close and just log that. After all, the nutritional information is rarely 100% accurate anyway. Keep going my friend. The road is long, but we are not alone. ~Barbara

I've driven somewhere to park and then jog or walk a nicer trail. I don't think that's dumb at all, and could be a great way to enjoy this early spring!

I work 40 hours a week, so I like to do mini workouts during my lunch break. I also make a stop at a walking/bike path on my way home from work and walk before I go home. Doing this little bit every day boosts my energy and puts me in a better mental state. It's not about finding the "perfect workout"...it's more about keeping your body moving and doing what you can, when you can. Hope this helps. P.S. If you dont want to log your calories, then don't! Live your life YOUR way.

On exercise: They say the BEST exercise is the one that you actually DO. It may help to look around and think, "Okay, what CAN I do?" The painting and vacuuming count. If you don't mind exercising alone, there are videos to try. Or a pair of rubber boots to deal with the mud and muck on the road while walking? On food logging: What I do is go to "my cookbook" and click on "submit a recipe." I list the ingredients for something I've made (or approximations for restaurant food) without clicking the "share" box, keeping it private and for my own reference. That way if I eat that food again, I can go to "my cookbook" and enter it easily.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I wish I could stop on my way home to walk or run, but I work from home or travel to site with my husband and the last thing you want to do after a long day 2 to 3 hours from home is stop one more time. I do have many exercise videos, a treadmill, and an elliptical which I try to exercise on 3 to 4 days a week and I am going to make it to my Tuesday Thursday zumba class both times this week. I did get my room painted yesterday all 3 coats, but have yet to get the vacuuming done. I wound up going outside to play volleyball with my 6 year old instead.
