flaxseed's Journal, 01 September 2011

After a couple of down days, I've been very busy. The ridge tiles on the roof and the gully between me and next door have been replaced, so winter weather do your worst! Wood burner has been overhauled and I'm just waiting for a new canopy which had badly distorted due to the heat. I've decided to get the bedroom decorated - there are too many memories in there. I've ordered a new memory foam topped mattress (and got it half price in the sale) bought new quilt covers, paint and wallpaper and a man who can is arriving on Monday. I'm feeling a bit guilty I'm not doing it myself, but what the heck.

I've been a bit slack in entering my food. I need to get my act together as I'm sure it keeps me on the straight and narrow. Weight is still going in the right direction - slowly, but I'm still not back to where I was for DD2's wedding. The plums are ready now and I keep giving in to the temptation to sink my teeth into one every time I pass. I've cooked some and they are in the freezer but there are so many. Onions are drying off in the greenhouse and the peas have finished. Beans are very slow but I was late in planting and the weather has been pants, so I can't complain.

Lets hope we can all keep this optimistic, upbeat mood going.

I remember after my dad died my mom completely redid her bedroom too. She said the same thing ... too many memories. I don't think you have anything to feel guilty about ... sounds like you have been incredibly productive. I agree with the tracking ... I do much better when I track than not. Neither one of us is down where we were but the important thing is we are heading DOWN!! (and not in mood!!)

I love reading your journal! It sounds like you live on a farm-so lovely growing and eating your own food. It's all I can do to grow tomatoes and parsley! Plums are just a taste of sweet sunshine. Love them. It's great that you are letting the man who can do the work. He probably needs it in this economy. No guilt allowed!

I think it's great you're getting the room redone. What a wonderful gift for yourself!!! I wish I had plums. They are my favorite fruit. Seems like you are doing really well on so many fronts. Your chart looks great and your mood and spirit seem much lighter. Hope it's a lovely weekend where you are.

Glad you've started recording your weight. Accountability is so important. Can't wait to hear about your garden this year. Hoping the weather is good enough to walk : )
